Yesterday saw the first in what will be two days of public comments on new rule proposals by the National Labor Relations Board. Jesse Russell reports.

The new rules are intended to end tactics that delay votes on whether or not a employer should be unionized. Employers can currently drag out an organizing process by many months and, in some cases, many years. American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees attorney Margaret McCann told the board that the new rules update election procedures for the 21st Century and provide fairness and certainty. West Virginia University College of Law Professor Anne Marie Lofaso echoed that sentiment saying the proposed rules modernize the system and make governing more efficient. She said they show “good government at its best.”

1. "in some cases, many years."
Yeah, many, many years... This is called bad faith negotiations, the employer tactic has become to delay so long that the work force that originally voted has died and blown away. All on the advise of the highly paid union avoidance contractor. At least in the local unionization battles that I am familiar with.

Here's to hoping for a little playing field leveling.

Cheers,
Agony
