7. I hope we can make the world go with wind, solar and other clean alternatives.
I'm saving up for a wind turbine on my ranch. Even if we could have truly clean coal there would still be the environmental issues to deal with. I guess I was just expressing some "Yes We Can" attitude.

4. Al Gore on "Clean Coal": INSANITY
At today’s Clinton Global Initiative, Al Gore said for the first time in public that we are at a point in our world’s history, and in need of such immediate action, that if you are a young person it’s time for civil disobedience.

In particular to bring coal plants to a halt.

On a panel with Queen Rania of Jordan, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf of Liberia, Neville Isdell (the CEO of Coca Cola), and Bono - moderated by President Clinton himself - Gore was fiery in his calls for action and investment in new clean energy technologies. He was even more fiery in his strong denouncements of nonexistent clean coal (”There is no such thing!”), and a congress that is today voting on an energy bill that lifts the moratorium on mining coal shale, calling it - with dramatic pause - “IN-SANITY.”

5. Coal will always be a part of Southwest Virginia economics,
There is no such thing as 'clean coal', but we are missing the real point here and that's the way coal is extracted now by blowing the mountain tops off, get the coal and move on to the next mountain to decapitate for the love of money. We have been told coal is all we have and it's where our prosperity comes from. Our schools are so outdated even they can't handle the power they need to run the latest technology our kids deserve. Wise County Virginia Coal is going to China to power their C02 belching behemoths to power factories for the shipped over seas American jobs so we can go to Wal*Mart and buy cheap toxic products. What a brilliant plan ! Greed, Lie, Cheat, Mislead, Fraud, Deceive. That has sadly become The American Way of life. http://www.wisecountyissues.com See my web site to get a view of a citizen of Wise County, Virginia's perspective of the prosperity from generations of coal ! Pound, Virginia and Appalachia, Virginia should look like Dubai instead of a third world toxic wasteland of a dump.
