6. these are the same people who get pissed off that the Indians have successful casinos in that area.
Fuck them. They are liars (everyone I show this to believes the same way), yeah whatever.

I did my research at THE LIBRARY. Ok. She keeps hammering that point.

Well which library is this exactly, I'd be keen to know.

Pathetic and confused. Maybe the GOP will run her next time.

19. I'm a librarian, and I'm appalled.
This woman has just dissed my profession. She has drawn a line in the sand. Very soon (at a time of our choosing) men in tweed blazers and Rockport loafers along with women wearing applique cat sweaters and double-knit ployester pants will descend upon her town and strike down upon her. As Michael Moore once said in reference to librarians, "I really didn't realize the librarians were, you know, such a dangerous group. ... You think they're just sitting at the desk, all quiet and everything. They're like plotting the revolution, man. I wouldn't mess with them."

Gayle from Shackopee, I have four words for you -- No books for you!!!

10. Complete lack of critical thinking.
You heard her talking about getting things "at the library." I wish the reporter had asked her how she searched, or what sources at the library she used. I'll bet the old bat heard it on Hannity or another crap RW radio show and her "letter" is just another stupid Republican chain email.

I wish she and people like her know how truly ignorant they are.

2. Just as Obama has said
They are going to tell lies about him as a person, that he isn't like them, etc. This woman is the face of American ignorance and intolerance. First of all even if his father was a muslim, he wasn't an Arab. Being dark skinned doesn't make you an Arab. The most populous muslim country is Indonesia, in Asia. There are American muslims, etc. Second, Barack is a christian. And even if he was a muslim, so what? Don't they realize that true, devout muslims (not the extremists) share the same set of core values as jews and christians and in fact for those on the far right such as this woman, muslim beliefs as exhibited in religious law are even more extreme.

So she believes what she gets in a letter without any independent thought. She says she went to the library and found 3 pages on him. Well I can assure you if she did a Google for "Barack Obama" she would get over 72 MILLION hits. And she has been allowed to pro-create and foster children and grand children that share the same lack of intellectual curiosity.

That's what Republicans want, people that listen to what their pastors and leaders tell them with no independent thought. This was of course what the Nazis did and we all know how well that all came out. They are severely anti-intellectual, foster a deep-seated resentment of science because science doesn't support their religious beliefs that the earth was created 4,000 years ago, etc.

This interview really should be the Republican's poster child....she demonstrates in a couple of minutes the problems with much of their base.

22. There are a lot of Christians who think Muslim and extremism are one in the same.
To those people, I suggest they read up on the Inquisition. Or the Crusades. Or even this war that we waged on Iraq. Then, tell me how peaceful and passive Christians have historically been.

11. I am in MN
There are people like this everywhere. Lakeville would draw a more rural and in some cases "uninformed" crowd. Not all but there are a lot of people like that out in the Country. It is that SW corner of the State and then some middle portion as well. This woman is old, isolated and has been scared into this talk. It is really sad.

36. I know I grew up
in SW MN. I just have never understood what drives this. I used to call where I grew up the bible belt of MN. I guess I have to give alot of credit to my parents. I grew up in a home where we would sit at the dinner table for dinner and talk about World events. I guess before I moved I started to recognize the change. I noticed the evangelical shift in the area between St. Cloud and the Cities. It just pains me to see ignorance of this magnitude there.

By the way. When did a Hockey Mom become a term of endearment? I always thought of a hockey mom as the crazed lady ready to beat the crap out of the coach if her kid didn't get enough ice time.

7. I think that's really making fun of an old woman who doesn't understand.
She says she "went to the library". She probably read something from a right-wing nutjob writer. I had an aunt that age who was talked into giving $30,000 to a lottery scam. Someone from the police dept. came to talk to her about fraud and explained how it all worked. We had heard about the program for the elderly, so we called them. She didn't believe a word he was saying. Long story short, she lost her home and everything else she had. She's in a nursing home now, thank God.

The elderly come from a more gullible (some say "trusting") generation. I don't like this video. I hope she doesn't get hate mail or worse from anybody out there because of it.

12. What's Even More Frightening About This Woman...
...is that she's been able to breed.

Zanne, I'm sorry for your aunt, but I think you're underestimating the 'power' of elderly people like this woman from Minnesota and others like her from Florida and all over the country. Your aunt's situation was tragic and happens all too often to the elderly. But it only affected her, as awful as that was. Your poor aunt got scammed, but she didn't turn around and scam 700+ other people did she?

What this woman from MN is doing, saying and promulgating may very likely be having ripple effects to thousands of other elderly and equally uninformed (and obviously prejudiced) voters across the country. Heck, according to her, she's already got whoever is of voting age in her family thinking the same way. Not to mention the 700 letters she 'printed at Kinkos' and sent out to perhaps other like minded and ill informed people. And if they weren't like minded before, then perhaps her prejudiced propaganda poisoned their minds, too.

So, the more light that can be shown on people like her, the better. The more McCain is going to have to realize that he and his p.r. have created and fostered this kind of mentality and he should be ashamed and...fearful. I don't want him as our next President, but I think beneath it all he's a decent man of conscience and he's already beginning to regret what a plague of nutjobs he's let loose on the scene and allowed into the voting booths.

Don't cry for Gayle from Minnesota. Cry for the country and an atmosphere that feeds on this kind of crap.

I have met too many people (my fiance's step father's side of the family) that really think and believe this way. They really honestly believe that he is going to make this an Islamic nation.

I mean his middle name is Hussein after all. Isn't it obvious? :sarcasm:

24. I don't like this video either,
not because she is an old lady being made fun of, but because she is an ignorant person. IMO, she was not being exploited by the reporters, she was happy to share her stupid, hate-filled opinions.

Ignorance is ignorance. Ignorance is ageless.

25. elderly? no
i am going to be 67 in january, i guess that is close to being elderly. you cannot say that these warper opinions are because of age. it is lack of inquisitive education. i was a pain in the neck to the nuns and priests when i was in grade school of a catholic school. just keep asking why or prove it during religion class and you piss them off royally. at one point i was given my religion class after school so no one else would start asking why or prove it to their ridiculous religious believes. so it is not age,but lack of education. also the right wing controls so much of the contents of school books, even today.

26. The most amazing part is the total lack of basic understanding
that her own statements reveal. The most striking part for me is where Dana Bash says " His father was Muslim and he's a Christian" and Gayle says "Yeah, but he's still got Muslim in him." She said it just like it was in his genes. It would be great if this got around even though they are trying to stick to and focus on the issues.

30. Damn. Remind me not to say anything you don't like around you judgmental fuckers!
Seriously.

This lady is trying to learn more about the world around her and make this country a better place. EVEN THOUGH SHE IS TOTALLY MISGUIDED AND HAS BEEN FED LIES she is not hateful or unwilling to discuss politics with others. She doesn't hate Obama or his supporters; she doesn't advocate violence against anyone. She's simply concerned about what would happen if "an Arab" became President and made this country an Islamic nation. If I believed the bullshit she does I would be just as concerned as I am about Palin making the USA a Christianic nation.

The problem isn't that she's an idiot, it's that she is being fed lies by people and sources she trusts. Once she figures out she's being lied too, she might very well think more critically and could even come around to Obama after getting her facts straight.

SHE IS HEAD AND SHOULDERS ABOVE THE PEOPLE WHO PUT OUT THE LIES IN THE FIRST PLACE, AND MOST RIGHT WINGERS. She is the direct result of the Right Wing Noise Machine.

There is no point in judging her. We should be, like the folks in the video, offering her alternatives and correcting her mis-perceptions.

Take a look at some of the videos of other McCain supporters and compare.

She's top of the heap.

35. I have no wrath for this woman
My mother is about her age, kinda reminds me of her LOL, and I think age plays absolutely no factor, or shouldn't, in our distaste of her opinions.

What pisses me off is the mindless ignorance she epitomizes when considering all her fellow rightists. What kind of bullshit is she researching that tells her Obama is Arab for chrissakes???? :wtf:

It's the kind of dishonest research which conveniently points you in the direction of the facts you are looking to confirm...she does not care about opening her mind, she is only concerned with proving to her own small mind that he is out to rape and pillage her fellow villagers.

Is this chick for real? Ignorant! Ignorant! Ignorant! This is why people need to pursue higher education. This woman said her kids and grandkids all think like she does. If they had an education, perhaps they would have a better chance at learning how to think for themselves and not just turn into a worthless drone. Not saying that her kids can't be educated or that an education will ensure one learns respect, culture and independent thinking but it can't hurt. Damn! This scares the crap outta me!
