5. Keep him on the run
let's push him out of every state we can. I just donated more money last night. I hope some of you can spare a little too or spare time to help Obama in close states.

8. McCain calls for Hail Mary play
The official campaign strategy is to hope for a miracle. He has to hope he gets lucky in all the toss-up states, and wins a few states currently leaning toward Obama. And he has to hope this happens without his campaign doing anything significant to make it happen.

The Pennsylvania strategy is just bad, though. RCP shows it not just leaning Obama, but solid Obama. FiveThirteyEight.com and electoral-vote.com, too. McCain's wasting resources on a state he trails in by double digits. That misallocation of his dwindling resources may very well cost him Ohio, where he could have made a fight of it.

Prediction: More arguing, division, and criticism will come regarding the conduct of McCain's campaign, both from inside and outside. Meanwhile, Obama's resource advantage will begin to make a real difference in the last two weeks. The gap is going to widen.

10. The strategy seems not intended for winning.....
I am by nature (training) reluctant to assume McCain's campaign is
actually stupid. Normally I would try to make them prove that.
So far they've done quite well on that. Still...

Here McCain's last week has been showing meltdown,
yet even now I'm still reluctant to assume its mindless. Instead I look for
a motive behind what's going on while assuming some sentience is behind it.
There might not be, but hey, this approach at least keeps me amused....

So if McCain's strategy is not looking like it is designed to win the
election, which seems now impossible, then what COULD it be designed
to do? Deep meaning or intricate plans not needed, just something
that makes political sense.

I don't see it. Any ideas? You know, Senate races, whatever?
Open thread. No penalty for wrong answers, so shoot away folks.

What IS McCain's campaign trying to accomplish?

Did everyone know wolves have been known to gnaw off their
own leg to escape a trap? Pretty stupid, huh?

7. All blue states are safe for Obama
Even Michigan that used to be a dead heat a few months from now is open Obama territory.

9. When Alex Castellanos talks like that . . .
. . . it's time for Michelle Obama to go to the White House and measure the drapes.
