'Theme: A mother's choice - to let her son risk dying for his ideals, or to put his life ahead of the "cause" in which he so believes. Aidan plays second lead as "Son" to Helen Mirren's "Mother" in this strong and deeply emotional film. (Movie tagline: "Between love and loyalty...Between life and death...Lies a choice no mother should have to make.")'

I would watch Mirren read a phonebook. I will have to try to track that film down.

7. Although I'm half (Catholic) Irish, I hold no brief for those fucking terrorists in the IRA. No more
than I do for the equally terrorist Protestant Orange Order, nor for the fucking Brits in Northern Ireland.

Nobody, nobody in that place is without blame. What the fuck was wrong with all those people?

12. Yes, and it's damn good to see that. The whole fight was stupid, and it's good to see
them getting past it, it is.

10. It must be nice to sit on your lofty perch and judge those which you
obviously know nothing about and understand less.

11. What lofty perch would that be? The one that, although I'm half Catholic Irish,
I can see from that EVERYONE in the Troubles fucked up big time, and cause the deaths of so many who did not deserve to die?

Or do I "know nothing" in your estimation because I do not take a side? And would it be your lofty perch that you condemn me from for being ignorant, because I did not take a side?

You'll not make this (half) Irishman feel the weight of your opinion from the height of your high horse, you won't.

ALL sides were to blame.

13. The Wind that Shakes the Barley
Just saw this last evening on Pay Per View ... Excellent. About Republicans in early 20th century Ireland, and two brothers who are torn apart by anti-Brit rebellion.
