Baghdad Burning - Laura Logan reports from Baghdad on CBS 60 MINUTES.
09:58

Gas lines 4 miles long........Iraqis wait in line for THREE DAYS to put gas in their car.

Kids can never leave the house, except to school.

STOP THIS WAR NOW!!!! Sign the petition and call your Congressperson and tell them to support a Senatorial filibuster of Bush's $125 billion war bill. Cutting fund to this war is the ONLY WAY our troops will come home from this illegal war!

Do you realize Harry Reid can end this war with a press conference?

All he has to do as Senate Majority leader is to invoke Senate Rule No. 22 - Automatic filibuster - on the Senate's next vote on Bush's war bill.

GAME OVER!

3. She;s the only reason I miss CBS nightly news -
I loathe Katie much more than I like Lara - and Lara is phenomenal at getting "real" stories. I wonder how much air time Katie is giving her - Schieffer used to give her a lot.

8. One minor critique of Lara...
She should avoid the scooped-neck tops with push-up bras when interviewing Middle Eastern men.

Hey, I love it, but I'm a red-blooded American.

Christine Amanpour is the standard to go by. Smart, savvy and hard-working.

5. Note also: What we leave behind.
That family had to go to Syria to escape. He spoke English, and was not anti American.

Yet the GOP Talking Point regarding an exit strategy is that US troops will run out of gas on the road to Kuwait. How stupid is that?

...mention running out of gas on the road to Kuwait from Baghdad (showing burnt a car pileup on that road, then the saigon rooftop helicopter). But I'm coming up dry for a link :/ will look more after work...

The core GOP talking point is that "Dem Troop Funding Cut" = "Troops Stuck There".

"BUSH: Congress' failure to fund our troops on the front lines will mean that some of our military families could wait longer for their loved ones to return from the front lines, and others could see their loved ones headed back to the war sooner than they need to. That is unacceptable to me."

Of course Jon Stewart made fun of this on the daily show, imitating the tie-swatting kid, after gates announced 15 month tours the next day.

On project filibuster. BUSH HIMSELF is acting as the catalyst to this. CW says he's going to veto, and every bill that follows will help him realize that demanding results is not 'micromanaging'. Or not. I'm still trying to determine if Ego () or Greed() is more precious to him. If ego wins, I think project filibuster happens. I hope.
