3. Had to think on this for awhile,
Edited on Thu Dec-04-08 11:56 PM by RandomThoughts
I thought there would be more comments, but maybe the political realities of the issues make many avoid it.

I guess my first thoughts were that it is respectful of Jesus Christ. Some might disagree with this, but I watched it a few times, and thats my thought on it.

I love my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and worship God Almighty through Jesus Christ. And when I think on gay marriage, and the prop 8 thing. The only reason I can think of that would make me not post something like this post, would be fear of being looked down on by some other people of faith.

So

I figured I would post saying that I liked the video, I love Jesus Christ, and I do not support making gay marriage illegal. Figured I would say that since I did not get to vote on prop 8.

However connecting Mr. Obama to the issue may not be fair(as the video sorta did by using the term Obama Nation), I think, when he campaigned, he supported civil unions, and not gay marriages. Of coarse this is just my personal opinion. I am not trying to speak for political people.

4. i think obama
just said that because otherwise it would have been made a big deal of. i think that if an amendment came accross his desk (in his second term) to make gay marriage legal, he would sign it. that's just my opinion though. it directly contrasts what he said but... he's a politician, and he's smart.

5. Well, on first look, you seem like one of the truly good Christians
That's something as rare as a spotted owl and almost as extinct as the dodo bird.

Obama, BTW, mentioned gays in his acceptance speech. I think that might be a first and as well, Obama is a highly astute politician who is leaning towards stronger gay rights and the groundswell backlash from Prop Hate may well push him into a more proactive stance. One can hope.

10. Thank you,
wasn't a prayer though, I confess my love of Jesus Christ often.

I was only identifying myself as a brother in Christ, as I believe the teachings of Christ to be.

However, there have been times where I have typed my prayers, sometimes it is because I also wish to share my thoughts, in that they may not be prayers, maybe they are just expressions formed in that way. don't know.

But thank you for the kind reminder.

14. the point of the passage is that Your Savior prefer that you NOT "confess your love".
and think about it for a moment- what good does proclaiming your devotion do? except for raising your place in the eyes of others, whose opinion of the relationship between you and your Savior holds little or no sway with your Savior, shouting your devotion from the rooftops does nothing.

Certainly, acting upon that love for your Savior by loving each other as your Savior has loved you is the purest declaration of your love.

posted without malice.

15. I understand your point.

I don't think of it the same way as you, I don't say it to gain favor or prestige with those of the same faith.

There may be an intent issue. If I was doing it to gain favor of man, or even to gain favor of God, then I would agree. I say it because I like saying it. And most things I do actually cause me to lose favor with many. I don't think how others think of me is that important to me.

In this case I felt it important to the conversation. To let someone know how I feel about Jesus gives a context for me to say I thought Jack Blacks representation of Christ was respectful.

I can say with certainty it is not to raise my esteem with others. But if you took it that way I apologize, I in no way think I am a better person, or more righteous then others.

I agree letting ones light shine is the best way to honor our Lord and Savior.

No malice perceived :)

Thanks for explaining

(edit: There is a third catagory, where a comment includes the Lord so he can recieve glory, if I am blessed, I want to show that it is the love and grace of God that deserves all glory. So in those circumstances I also mention him. Again not for my gain, but to avoid any misperception. Since in the circumstance when I am blessed, I want to openly give him the glory and not try and claim it myself.)

18. I confess my love of Jesus Christ often.
Isn't that special?!

But JC really has nothing to do with this except he is the catalyst, apparently, for bigotry and the opposition. I'm sure the mythical Jesus of the Bible would not approve...but who knows? Jesus never mentions the subject.

At any rate, state government sanction or rejection of gay marriage is a legal matter, not a religious one. If religious people don't like gay marriage, then they should not have one. Just like if they don't like drinking or sex with the light on. But as far as state constitutions and THE Constitution with a capital "C" is concerned, banning gay marriage is obviously unconstitutional, no matter how the "majority" think or vote.
Just like Civil Rights.

12. unless you were calling me a hypocrit,
then I accept that label, I am a sinner, and many times know things I should do, yet at times fail to do them. So it does happen that I speak what I believe to be true, and yet fail to always achieve those goals.

And if you believe differently then me, God Bless you, and may we learn from each other.

the meaning of your post, could you post or if you feel more comfortable PM me what your meaning is.

Maybe your post was positive? I may have miss interpreted it. I don't know. I would be interested in hearing what your interpretation is in the context of my post.

6. I know a lot of people who should watch this play.
They're the ones who pick and choose select portions of the Bible to support their political beliefs.
