2. Yup, let them fail, they all said, it's good for the industry, they all said
let the stronger ones survive, they all said. Except that wasn't only the GOP talking, it was here. It was so obvious from the onset, this was an attack on labor, payback for supporting the Dems. But what they didn't realize they bit the hand that fed them, and one very big source of contributions, the Big 3, has literally, dried up overnight for them.

I think I can successfully predict that for the next generation, the GOP will be nothing more than a barking dog in an empty apartment.

7. What's interesting, is we've heard NOTING from Harry "Who me" Reid and company
about. Makes me wonder about his seriousness for Labor

8. BEAT THE DRUM......LOUD AND CLEAR!!
This is what we have....a bunch of disgruntled obstructionists trying to bully their way on the future of American blue collar workers.

Can you see that America?? Open up your f*cking eyes!! These pigs are nothing but sleaze ball, political hacks, interested in their union busting agenda than what might be good for America.

Why do they hate their country so? What ignorant sons of bitches that voted these hacks back in to Congress. I'm ashamed of them. I really feel for the good, open minded and honest people down South that have to live with this dirty bull shit on a daily basis. There is NO WAY I would ever consider moving to the South...and damn slight chance I would ever go out of my way to visit it.

9. For all of the doubters, attackers and apologists on DU
I hope they see this Monday morning from their cubicles or desks or whatever and think about how they knocked us for standing up for our rights. I nearly sacrificed my membership here because I would not give up my principles. Next time, I will not concede. The so called "Progressive" membership is no different than any where else in America; petty labor jealousy, ignorance and indifference over Labor and what it means to be Unionized, and just plain hatred of all things blue collar.

11. not so
I'm progressive, have had several union jobs, and buy US goods whenever I can. I find your anger a little confusing-if folks were saying things that betray them as anti-labor, then they simply are not progressive. They are trolls.

14. we need to start pickin up the smoking guns
and using them on the people who dropped them. It's beyond discouraging that hasn't been dragged from the WH yet. The country's soul is dead.

I won't even bother to add any more sarcasm. I just hope that whatever Democrats that still have some spine will shove this down their throats. These bastards don't belong in my government.

17. Why is there so little Media attention about this?
This should be a major story but none of the Sunday morning shows even mentioned this memo. They hardly mentioned the Auto bailout at all prefering to talk about Blago instead.

18. someone please help me here
as a moderate, tell me how pumping $$ of our money into a company that has failed because of it's OWN DOING, how that helps this country. we consumers have made our choice about what products we prefer. that is the way it works here. does anyone here think we will start buying chevys now because we feel sorry for gm? OF COURSE, NOT!
yes, we absolutely must do everything we can to prevent the crisis from worsening, including providing long-term help to those who lose their jobs. however, giving money to the morons who have run and ruined gm is stupid.
i am no economist but that is the opinion of someone who has been in manufacturing for 40 years.

19. Manufacturing is hurting b/c we don't have natl healthcare
It's more to do with legacy costs than anything else. Besides, if the "business model" of the auto industry is bad, then it must be horrible in the financial sector, so you must be really, really outraged about that!

20. So are you saying the Domestic don't make cars as good as the transplants
You are also no genius, because NOT giving money to GM takes down your beloved Transplants being made here because the supply chain fails. You have bought into the bullshit the Japanese are skilled at, turning us against our own to make you think their products are superior.

If that's the case, why aren't there any antique car shows featuring imports or Transplants? Restored Toyota Corollas being sold at Barrett Jackson? Muscle rice burners?
