Ain't no election fraud, ain't no 9/11 conspiracy, Oswald acted alone, go back to sleep, nothing to see here, yea yea yea...

4. How can they possibly deny this?
It's so blatantly obvious. The plane ran out of gas and went down in flames? Riiiiight.

...that the plane ran out of gas and went down in flames.

Of course unless you are jumping to conclusions based on uncollaborated sources, then please, by all means, don't let me stop you.

This should be investigated and will be, as all flights that crash are. But as always many on DU have already made up their mind.

54. The NTSB DID come to a conclusion
Two bullets brought the plane down. One hit the plane in the neck, exited the plane and went into another plane, while the second bullet hit the plane in the head. The bullets were fired from a single manlicher carcano rifle (WWII vintage italian rifle).

So you think the NTSB is completely unimpeachable?

56. Thanks for the laugh.
But no, I'm not saying that they are unimpeachable. I'm saying that this crash just happened, and as always 90% of this message board has made up their mind before any kind of investigation has taken place. This is what happens every time someone dies. The first thing DU does is tie it to the Bush administration. Hell, some even did that here with Tim Russert. It's just a little silly, and you know what they say about crying wolf...

Because there's nothing on the google about the NTSB having released any information on the crash to date. And I can't find any record of it in their database: http://www.ntsb.gov/ntsb/query.asp.

The conspiracy being proposed here is much smaller, presenting far fewer technical problems to pull off.

The 9-11 one would have to be vastly more efficient and leak-proof, making it less likely.

It is not the case that either ALL conspiracies are true or NONE of them are.

Skepticism of conspiracy theories is perfectly valid, no matter how annoying you might personally find it.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to keep the CIA from re-programming me through my dental fillings...

29. Don't be so hard on Larrisa throwing out false info. She already retracted the out of gas story.
Granted, that hasn't put an end to people thinking that there is a BS story planted to get us all to go back to sleep, and then determining that the 'planted' story may be part of the conspiracy.

On this thread, there are more than a dozen references to running out of gas, and a single post mentioning Larissa's retraction.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x3653385#3654020

But don't be pissed at her for making us all look like a bunch of irresponsible fools who just blindly repeat stuff.

She explains:

"I am getting this stuff in real time, so information sometimes is not fully detailed or even accurate. Which is why I have been updating it as I learn more."

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=102&topic_id=3653385&mesg_id=3654092

See? All better.

People could also try to not be too tough on others who try to not be irresponsible fools who just blindly repeat stuff.

69. Larrissa herself blogged about a claim that the plane ran out of gas.

Like most people would, she thought that was really odd and meant to distract from a homicide.

Then she had to update her blog, deciding that the person she heard it from had no basis for saying it...or some such. Of course, by then many were reposting that notion with the natural suspicion that a cover-up had been mounted. And probably still are.

A perfect example of how a rumor gets started.

I called her out on the sloppy journalism. (I know. I shouldn't have done that in the echo chamber.) And she accused me of being Bev Harris, or in cahoots with same. Nice touch, in my opinion.

Did you click the links I provided?

"He apparently ran out of gas, something I find hard to believe."

http://www.atlargely.com/2008/12/one-of-my-sources-died-in-a-plane-crash-last-night.html

That's how the rumor got going. Period.

Whatever else she wrote, including disclaimers about not knowing anything about aviation, and later amending the blog, she said the dude "apparently ran out of gas".

And that's what I'm noting.

That, and sorry she screwed it up.

I had the ABC early morning news on and they showed 1988 footage of Peter Jennings reporting on the Lockerbie crash. I looked for it, but only found Sam Donaldson. But that was pretty good, wanted to post it, but the video forum only accepts YouTube videos.

I thought you'd be interested in that, too...

How the Fuck can you NOT think of this as deliberate?!

I mean seriously you'd have to be hard-wired AGAINST thinking that conspiracies exist. Just look at all the RASH of small plane accidents.

Christ, there weren't this many "accidents" during the COLD WAR, and that was fucking VICIOUS!

Ran out of fuel, but they DID manage to land, THEN it blows up? WTF, where'd the fuel for THAT fire come from?! it's totally illogical to think this was ANY kind of accident, aside from a planned one!

66. local stations always (nearly always) report on local news - it's like a must
if they didn't, it would smack of clear media control and make people look further into things - now, having it go on the NBC Nightly News in detail about the connections, that's another thing - they surely mentioned his death, but I'm sure it wasn't an investigative report. Gotta work the story out I guess, but how can this not smack of murder?

Edited on Mon Dec-22-08 10:58 AM by Wilms
But the best I can determine is that it wasn't Connell saying he was threatened. Rather it was Arnebeck saying that somebody told Arnebeck that Rove was gunning for Connell.

So that's a bit different.

If you really study this, you'll see a report saying that the alleged threat has been repeatedly reported (as if the same few blogs repeating the same allegation enough times makes it fact :eyes: ). Then it morphs into another report saying Rove had repeatedly threatened Connell. People can't...or won't...read.

Mark Crispin Miller also fumbles his way through it on Amy Goodman's show. But Mark is...like...God. So I won't say anymore about that.

It's a bad game of telephone. Entertaining when not utterly sad.

71. The original threat story didn't even deal with violence.
The threat story was the Connell was supposed to take the rap for stealing the 2004 Ohio election. If Connell refused, the yarn goes, his wife would be indicted for lobby law violations. As far as I have been able to find, Connell's wife isn't even a lobbyist.

Then the story morphed into calling the attorney general and asking for protection. The first story just faded away. Now instead of refusing to take the fall now its a mysterious and unexplained urge to spill all of some unspecified magnitude 20 earthquake revelations to some unspecified somebody, and all this just a month after Connell sent his attorneys to quash a subpoena that would lead to him getting an opportunity to tell all he knew. And Rove couldn't let the bean spilling happen,so he had the guy's house watched and had his goons keeping up with the blogs to make sure that if any insider decided to tip off the libs that the insider would be disposed of immediately.

What amazes me most is that all of this alleged Rove mobster type activity is said to arise from one crackpot lawsuit that had no evidence at all and nothing more than a crackpot theory about what MIGHT have happened. That theory doesn't stand against 5 minutes of logic.

So Rove, who is probably the proud target of Lord knows how many crackpot lawsuits, supposedly calls out hit men and everything to prevent this farce from exposing him. A first year law school graduate could have just as easily had the whole suit thrown out, as it was totally without merit. The only hope the suit ever had that somehow if Connell was captive of a subpoena and had to behave to escape a perjury rap that Connell was spill unspecified secrets that would lead to a total rearrangement of the political situation in the United States. When Connell made it to the stand, Connell said he didn't know anything about any stolen election, that he didn't have to answer questions about any other conspiracy theories because they weren't relevant to the suit filed, and skipped off a couple hours later leaving the attorney providing the world with the reports of threats holding pages and pages of lawsuit that had nowhere else to go.

That's where the whole thing stood until the airplane accident.

was that there were no threats and no attempts at sabotage. That's all made up by conspiracy theory shops. Of course he wouldn't fly if his plane was sabotaged two times and his friend told him he was about to be murdered. Common sense!

34. Whataya bet....
...that if they nail the people that 'engineered' this 'crash', they'll also have the same ones that did in Mel Carnahan and Paul Wellstone? Under the category that Repugs are creatures of habit, and that the same people that did the deed at Watergate were the ones that broke into Daniel Ellsberg's office, they undoubtedly re-used the same plane sabotage specialists. Once they get 'em the whole bunch will flip on the entire, rotten excuse for a political party that is Republican. I can't wait for the flood of admissions and recriminations once they get started. Hell, even the 'Saint' RR will be forever associated with the worst of the worst.

And we all know these criminals work the media cycles like clockwork. Michael Connell should NOT have been travelling by small plane on the SATURDAY BEFORE CHRISTMAS! We all know that Saturdays are the days that they dump the news stories that they don't want anyone to read each week. Well the Saturday before Christmas is like their yearly 'take out the trash' day in the news world. That's the day when witnesses and investigations are killed.

40. Wow. This looks bad.

Real cloak and dagger stuff. Sounds like Rove could really be involved. And you know, all kinds of similar things may be going on in cases we'll never know the first thing about! Creepy.

51. Thats exactly what I thought! He was in deep trouble no matter what he said.
He got turned in by Spoonmoore the original whistle blower and Rove and company wanted him to take full blame for the stolen election or else they would report his wife for lobbying irregularities (I'm just repeating what i saw on heere last night). So he was in deep trouble no matter what he did so why not die in an accident so your family wouldn't go down with him...instead get the insurance. It's sad no matter what. Hopefully people won't be so eager to help these GOP crooks again...the ultimate death wish!

68. But if he had immunity he would have to worry about what Rove and the GOP
would do to his family or him for a long time. It seems more likely that "they" took care of him but just a thought. Will any of these thugs ever go to jail....especially Carl Rove. He is the devil. How can that guy live with himself. I imagine all this election stealing stuff will come to a head when the repugs are out of office. Someone has to be prosecuted and the GOP will be known for stealing two elections and screwing up our country because of it. Thats why they could be trying to clean up a bit.

47. With his worries about sabotaged planes...
did he bother to record some sort of tell all that could get out should he be killed? It would seem to me to be important to do that if you really feared for your life.

63. Wellstone...
Published in the May 27, 2002 issue of The Nation
Paul Wellstone, Fighter by John Nichols
www.commondreams.org/views02/0510-04.htm

Paul Wellstone is a hunted man. Minnesota's senior senator is not just another Democrat on White House political czar Karl Rove's target list, in an election year when the Senate balance of power could be decided by the voters of a single state. Rather, getting rid of Wellstone is a passion for Rove, Dick Cheney, George W. Bush and the special-interest lobbies that fund the most sophisticated political operation ever assembled by a presidential administration. "There are people in the White House who wake up in the morning thinking about how they will defeat Paul Wellstone," a senior Republican aide confides. "This one is political and personal for them." ....

82. Now THAT sounds like a conspiracy.
"probably not a conspiracy", (eyes rolling)
how the hell would 19 Action News be competent to "conclude" that?
Actually that sounds like either idiots work for Action News,
or it sounds just like a cover-up story (conspiracy).

Which is it, Action News?
