Cap and Tirade: Bachmann Repeats Falsehood

Representative Michele Bachmann (MN-6) is still spreading false information regarding an MIT study on cap and trade.

She held two townhalls today to discuss proposals for a cap and trade program to abet greenhouse gasses. She was joined by Chris Horner, a lawyer for the Competitive Enterprise Institute. They gave prepared presentations and only took highly moderated pre-written questions.

For us to know if Rep. Bachmann is "willfully lying" vs "unwittingly misrepresenting" we would have to know if she knew the author of the MIT report had spoken out on the subject.

Regrettably, Rep. Bachmann refused to speak with ALL press today.

2. Bachmann is something of an enigma

I'm never sure whether or not she really believes her own steer manure.

I'm certain Ken Mehlman, Karl Rove and Dick Cheney didn't believe theirs. But Bachmann, I don't know.

Is it worse for her to say that stuff when she knows it isn't true or to actually be a member of Congress while that misinformed?

4. I think Bachmann truly believes.

The hell for me has always been that KKKarl et al were gleefully spewing their bile for the benefit of the easily-manipulated unfortunates who were too uneducated and too incurious to question what they were being spoon fed, and yet is was CLEAR to me that he and his ilk KNEW they were making their $$$ off the ignorance of their followers.

What I find even MORE distressing is that Bachmann seems to have gorged MIGHTILY at the trough of KKKarl-provided stupidity and, horrifyingly enough, got herself elected to Congress on the strength thereof.
