2. What if China invaded the U.S.
Imagine a million chinese soldiers turned loose on U.S. soil, and no one had a gun. We would have to fold like card table.

Anyone can paint a scenario to bolster their beliefs, just like the idiots that made this video. I will never, ever, give up my guns. You can be one of those behind barbed wire if you like, I'm staying free and armed. Obviously, I am not a pacivist. I intend to defend my country and my beliefs to the death, if necessary. And yes, I am a lifelong democrat!

5. I'm interested in the China theory. So you think private gun owners

guarantee us safety from a chinese invasion?

I'd like to see them get here first. Somehow I think you're talking something strategically unfeasible, just like the opposite would be: the US invading China.

In my opinion, if we had this kind of war, and Chinese troops would already be on US Soil.. Wouldn't that technically imply that we lost the war already? And if the United States armed forces lost against China, do you honestly think some vigilantes (pissing my pants, the american "franctireurs") would make that much of a difference?

Sure.

"General. The 101st Airborne just got wiped out totally south of Seattle, what are your orders?"

" Try it with the Volkssturm, Colonel, it worked wonders in Berlin "

Did I miss your sarcasm? If so, sorry, if not, take notice that many people who have studied history would not support the idea that your proposed plan for defending america is feasible or would make a difference.
But then. That's just my opinion. We'll have to wait for the Turner Diaries to come true to be able to decide on this one.

8. I'm hardly hunkered down
in a bunker waiting for the Chinese paratroopers to arrive. But given the way things tend to go in global power struggles it is a possibility. Nothing stays the same y'know. I could see China becoming more of a power on the world stage and figuring out a way to garrison Mexico or Canada. Don't just assume they will have to stage a D-day style invasion to make it happen. Our industrial capacity and by extension our industrialized military capacity depends on oil. That means oil that belongs to people who we have spent the past half century screwing over. China could easily become their new best friend.

A lot of things could happen and a lot of scenarios could play out. It's better to work and play well with others so we don't have to shoot at them, no matter where the shooting happens.

9. So you're one of the cats who believe that China could sneak in a few millions into mexico?

And where would your intel services be up until then?

I see America, Canada and Mexico merging before I see that happening.

11. America, Canada, and Mexico
could well merge. Like I said, anything could happen.

I'm suggesting that China wouldn't have to sneak anybody anywhere. We haven't had to sneak over seven hundred military bases anywhere. As our global hegomony shrinks, others will expand. Empires don't last forever, and ours appears to be on the decline.

12. I totally agree with your premise. Still some things are unfeasible.

Our empire isn't protecting us from China right now. Even if we become a low-life country in the next 10 years, we would not let the chinese station whole armies, operational on their own, anywhere on this continent.
An invasion of the mainland US is a major, major operation. It would far exceed the needs of Overlord, even if it would be done in small steps over years. To invade the US, you would have to concentrate troops on our near to our continent, which is simply impossible to hide in these days.

But hey, anything can be. Didn't want to sound dismissive, your second post does seem rather rational.

14. No worries.
You're right. As our empire contracts, all of those troops and materiel will come home. The compression of forces will make it a whale of a lot harder to defeat us on our own soil. And no matter what anybody says, any foreign power will be well aware of American's penchant for having small arms squirreled away. Our experience in Iraq has shown insurgents with small arms can cause a lot of problems for even the most advanced military. We will have to contract a whole lot and even then conquest won't be easy or happen any time soon.

I just re-watched The Lion in Winter the other night, and a line or two from that movie comes back to me every time the subject of our or anybody elses conquest comes up.

Prince Richard: He's here. He'll get no satisfaction out of me. He isn't going to see me beg.
Prince Geoffrey: My you chivalric fool... as if the way one fell down mattered.
Prince Richard: When the fall is all there is, it matters.

That's the first thing I thought about when the tomfoolery in Iraq started. I put myself in the place of the people who we were brutalizing and thought, "If a foreign country invaded us I'd be one of them out there with a Kalashnikov, even if I got cut down in the first volly". And I'm a pretty peaceful and reasonable guy.

13. No, you just read what you wanted to read.
I said anyone could paint a scenario to defend their position on gun control, just like the makers of this video. HAving a million chinese invade our country is about as feasible as everyone here having a free-for-all with their guns! Whether or not you care that I own guns is of no consequence to me, as is your opinion about the defense of America. I believe all are entitled to their opinions, just so long as they understand that it is just that........mine included.
Hey, I grew up in small town rural Texas. I'm sure we must have a totally different view on some subjects. That's cool. You got your ideas, I got mine. If it ever comes to shooting, let's just hope we're all firing from the same side!

Why is the left against first amendment rights? I have never quite understood it. Criminals will find ways to get their hands on guns regardless of the law (they are CRIMINALS after all)
