I love when he circles behind the egg-rollers to assist the little red-haired girl in last place... He teaches her a new technique and makes certain she's in the game.

Says a lot, in my opinion, about his instincts.

3. I believe tickets were available at some point on the web - first come/first served

but from this link, it sounds like it was a hot ticket to go for and the website quickly distributed all the available tickets. some were distributed in other areas - military families, locals, etc
