Still, he made the right points.

9. He will fit in just swell with the Opus Dei freaks that control the church now.
John Paul II put the secret Opus Dei self torturing freaks in charge of the church. Newt will fit in just great since his lust for power is insatiable. That is the primary objective of Opus Dei, world domination.

3. "Absurd" sort of sums up the newt...
This prick is "their man" at the moment for 2012. Quite a choice. I would LOVE to see the debates between President Obama and "the newt". Jesus, give me strength. This pompous ass hole really thinks his way is the way to go forward??? Not for this American! Not for the United States!

4. What kills me about the GOP is that they continue to equate "Anti-Bush" with...
..."Anti-American". Two totally different sides of a very different coin.

5. EXACTLY! They don't realize that Conservatives are not only a part of America but are now a minority
let alone America in it's entirety. Whenever they're ideology is contested; it's immediately "the only" American ideology thats being questioned. Obama won by over twice the electoral votes than McCain. America spoke and the GOP was found wanting, yet they still claim to be "America" .

17. I agree but disagree
Your absolutely spot on in reference to the Right wing "draw" being bluster and hype and almost completely psychological but as much as I hate to say it; it is indeed working. There will always be selfishness, ingratitude, and greed in the world and even when it is exposed it will always find a way to be justified on a mass scale ie. Right Wing conservatism. I think it's working because when you talk to any lower to middle to even upper middle classed conservative, they think the only way to be rich and successful is to adopt a right-wing mentality. They don't realize that there are plenty of millionaire/billionaire job-providing democrats and liberals.

12. Same old tricks
Actually the thing I noticed before the newsperson cut him of was Newt's 'the most radical administration' this is literally straight out of Newt's book. I don't remember when it was 80's or 90's Newt came out with the idea and a book that words were the important thing. To that end he proposed that when Republicans talked about Democrats/liberals they should always do it in the most negative way possible in their eyes ie. Most liberal senator, most radical, liar, largest tax hike in history, tax and spend, etc. When talking about Republicans just the opposite most patriotic, small government, lower taxes, real americans, believers in family values. The shallowness of this approach is there is no there there it's all words. You don't have to believe a word you say and it doesn't have to be true as long as it leaves the listener with a negative impression of the Democrats/liberals. The Republican party is nothing but a marketing operation. As somebody in the Bush administration said 'reality. what reality? Reality is whatever we decide it is'.
Unfortunately for the Republicans and fortunately for the rest of us they have gone so far off the deep end that most the people won't buy their propaganda anymore and see it for what it really is 'bat shit crazy'.

18. Do you know the title of Newt's book?
Edited on Wed Apr-22-09 10:49 PM by WhoIsNumberNone
I'd be interested in reading it if I could find a used copy (buying a new one would futher line Newt's pocket)- Only for the same reasons I'd be interested to read the Bible or Mein Kampf: to better understand how these people "think".

20. To tell you the truth
Edited on Thu Apr-23-09 12:24 AM by droidamus2
I am not sure it is an actual book or just an article but he was writing about using words for control. If you search for Gingrich and words or control and dig a little you can find his list of goods words to use when talking about Republicans and the list of 'bad' words to use when referring to Democrats. He even urges the Republicans to memorize the words and phrases and to use them all the time. If you read the list and then think about how you hear Republicans talk you will see that some of them took him seriously .

Edit : I did a quick search and discovered the list originally came for a GOPAC memo which at least in part can be found at GOPAC Memo

13. I don't think Chavez is so much anti-American...
...as anti-Bush. Think about it: He became president of Venezuela in 1998. We never heard a word about him until Bush became president, then he's this 'dangerous marxist dictator'. And yes he's said some things, but to my recollection they were more about Bush and his policies than America as a whole.

15. The GOP knows how to be an opposition party.
Put your first stake as far from the middle as possible, and negotiate from there. Or, hey, if you know you can't win in the short term, just fuck the negotiation and get your right-wing freak on.

19. Some one should
ask Newt why the republicans are running an anti-American campaign by going on television each day bashing and disrespecting our current President of the United States of America for all of the world to see.
