1. Good lord .........
Edited on Tue Apr-21-09 02:18 AM by PDJane
that woman was the front runner? She looks like a shiny new barbie doll.....and obviously has the same kind of brains and sex appeal. (please note that I admit that's a personal opinion.)

And Perez Hilton, I'm sorry to say, isn't much brighter.

Why bother?

2. Perez Hilton is an attention whore.
He's going to eat this up. He'll act disgusted, but it's going to get his ugly mug out there.

Wouldn't be surprised if that's why he asked the question in the first place.

3. Wow. Just wow.
The only hope I have is that Ms California and Perez Hilton both end up working in the same Dairy Queen. No other result would properly serve justice.

11. Absolutely
He got famous drawing rude stuff on photos, and then posting them.

She's clearly about as smart as a bag of rocks.

4. the c-word? like c-alifornia?

gotta give him credit - i don't follow him but he sure has made himself a niche without anything more than an idea and his hard work - and has been successful in placing himself in the spotlight - so if that is how he wants to make his living, so be it. I don't know that he's winning any battles for folks who are fighting for the same-sex marriage issue in California, but the media is his playing field and he can do as he pleases.

5. As a gay person and one who supports gay marriage,
her answer would have alienated half of the country no matter HOW she answered. Perez is just upset that she alienated us. Also, to be fair, how would the winner have answered the same question? She could have been even more "upsetting". I have no more ill will toward Miss California than I do the other contestants, but that's just me.

6. well, that girl was on the today show and she said that as a christian
that's what she believes and she would answer it the same today. she shouldn't just say what people want to hear, and her believing that in and of itself is not a problem. the question is more... does she believe that the LAW should say that marriage is between a man and a woman thus legislating this woman's religious beliefs. because if she wants to believe that, then that's fine... that marriage is between a man and a woman. the problem is with the idea that someone's religious beliefs should be legislated so that everyone has to abide by their beliefs. that is the problem. If you do not believe in gay marriage, then don't marry someone of the same sex. beyond that, who are you to legislate your personal beliefs. period. end of discussion.

i don't really know anything about the perez hilton person. he on the today show said that miss usa is supposed to represent all of america. WHAT?? it's a BEAUTY contest. not a political office. she has a right to her opinions, but i have to admit that it makes me mad when people want to legislate their personal beliefs and force them on everyone else.

7. Can we expect poise and diplomacy from contestants?
I'm not a fan of beauty pageants, by any means, but I thought that the winner was supposed to exhibit poise and diplomacy--because she'll be representing her organization for a year during which time she'll be speaking to many different groups of people, formally and in informal settings, too.

Like any competent diplomat, isn't she expected to keep devisive thoughts to herself and say something, well, diplomatic? That's what she flunked.

8. i never thought of it like that. actually i try not to think about those contests in general
and make a point to tell my kids that there is more to a person than what they look like. but from hearing the girl talk this morning, she seemed to think that it was better that she be honest and true to her biblical beliefs. maybe she's part of that segment that thinks that theirs are the only feelings and thoughts that matter. i don't know. but if she is supposed to be going around talking to different folks and representing someone other than herself, then perhaps a more diplomatic stance would have been appropriate. it would have been ok if she had said that she believes in marriage between a man and a woman, but that she doesn't think that one group should tell everyone else what to do. that would have been ok.

12. I am not saying that she should be off the hook, but that
she is being scapegoated as the contestant who was asked to answer the question. Also, Perez seemed to think that if she answered it the way he and I would have liked that the people who disagree with us would have been unperturbed by her response. She was in a no win situation. Of course, she is wrong, but the nature of the question really didn't give her much wiggle room either way.

Nevertheless, she flubbed the answer so badly that she shouldn't have won even if she DID agree with us!

13. I call bullshit on her reasoning..my sister
is a Christian and she has no problem with Gay Marriage.. as no doubt other Christians have no problem, either.

These so called "Christians" use His name for their bigoted small minds.

10. Perfect Answer:
"Marriage should be a legal arrangement between two adults of either gender and the government. As a Christian, I would not want to see same sex marriage condoned by the church in a church wedding, as that is against my beliefs and values."
