9. I guess I'm just not interested in what fundies think of Ehrman.
Doesn't take a genius to figure out they don't like him.

Your thread title was misleading - I expected Ehrman on the youtube video.

2. This guy is a moron and has obviously never read Ehrman's books
I've just finished reading three of them. They are fantastic and should be required reading for anyone in the church. Ehrman's agnosticism arises not from his knowledge about early church history, the origins of the bible, etc. but rather from the problem of suffering, which is a well-known stumbling block for many people's faith.

I urge everyone to read Ehrman's books. He is honest, clear, and incredibly knowledgeable, as well as extremely humane.

Dan Brown, on the other hand, is a just provocateur with books to sell. He should not be taken seriously as far as his claims about history or Christianity - he's a fiction writer.

5. Agnostic Author Bart Ehrman Picks Apart the Gospels That Made a Disbeliever Out of Him
Edited on Tue Apr-21-09 01:40 PM by seemslikeadream

But after three decades of research into that divine revelation, Ehrman became an agnostic. What he found in the ancient papyri of the scriptorium was not the greatest story ever told, but the crumbling dust of his own faith.

7. If that is what that article says, it is lying
Ehrman explains it in exacting detail in his most recent books: "God's Problem" and "Jesus Interrupted". His historical knowledge had nothing to do with his faith or lack thereof. It was theodicy, the problem of God's justice, or the problem of the suffering of innocents, that broke his faith.

I wish people would actually read an author's writing before they spoke for him.
