Another young person goes off on torture...



I'm a single issue voter now. I'm for whoever goes after the bastards responsible from top to bottom.

It's wrong.

It's illegal.

It's ineffective.

And whether or not you think the war on terror is a good idea, it's a recruiting tactic to increase the conflict.

There are those who "hate us for our freedom," who want to subject the world to Sharia or otherwise bring about apocalypse, fanatical crackpots, and etc. But, that's not the case for the overwhelming majority of the world, even in areas like Afghanistan and Pakistan. They hate us because we occupy their lands. They hate us because we support Israel. They hate us because we drop bombs on them. All of this aside, we can not convince them that we're doing it for any "good" cause if we're sinking to the level of those we consider to be the "bad guys."

Our construction and rebuilding operations, hospitals, medicine, food and aid... It all means nothing next to blown-up pictures from Abu Ghraib and stories from Guantanamo. The rest of the world has been subjected to our ethics, our condemnation of torture, and they see us avoiding the application of those "high ideals" we defend to ourselves.

We look like a bunch of hypocrites. Funny thing is, that's the most accurate depiction of our foreign policy... "Hypocrisy" sums up the last 60 years quite nicely.

This is how evil works. This is how it comes across, with cute euphemisms and obscurantist idiocy.

I fear that the vast majority of those who should be held responsible will get off with no punishment and that the mainstream media will be okay with that. Their obsession right now is only for revenue dollars, not out of principle (unless your Keith O., Rachel, Ed Schulz or Shep Smith of all fucking people).The thought of it drives me crazy. I hope there are enough of us out here who are fed up with this bullshit to not let it slide. The look on Obama's face the day after Rahm Emmanuel was on Stephanopoulus seems to indicate there are enough of us who want true accountability, regardless of what else is one the table. Let's hope.
