Reason.tv: Will Charlie Lynch Avoid Prison for Legally Operating a Medical Marijuana Dispensary? Exclusive footage from his sentencing hearing.

April 24, 2009, 3:00pm

http://reason.com/blog/show/133099.html

On April 23, 2009 a federal judge postponed the sentencing of Charlie Lynch, the man at the center of the nation's debate over medical marijuana. Lynch operated a medical marijuana dispensary that was fully legal under California law. However, in 2007, his business was raided and last year he was found guilty in federal court of distributing marijuana.

The judge signaled that, if possible, he wanted to find a way to avoid the five-year mandatory minimum sentence proscribed by law.

"To be blunt, if I could find a way out, I would," said U.S. District Judge George H. Wu.

...

This is an important humanitarian issue for those who live constantly with chronic pain and find some relief through Medical Marijuana.

For those that don't know about the U.S. Government program that had given Medical Marijuana to a few people for over 30 years now go to this link:

Federal Medical Marijuana Program Marks 30th Anniversary on May 10

May 6, 2008

WASHINGTON, D.C. A little-known federal government program that supplies medical marijuana to a handful of patients will mark its 30th anniversary on May 10.

The federal medical marijuana program -- referred to as a Compassionate Investigational New Drug (IND) program -- resulted from a lawsuit filed by glaucoma patient Robert Randall, who successfully showed that his use of marijuana was a medical necessity.

...........

And follow Montel Williams on Air America who has MS and has said this is one of the only therapies that has given him any relief:

.......

If you have never had a loved one who has chronic pain or are someone who has had to live with this then you just can't fathom the depth of human suffering those who do have to live with this go through on a daily basis. It is time to give them the quality of life that they deserve.

5. It is mind boggling that travesties like this are still happening.
The feds have no business whatsoever telling local judges how to sentence with heinous and barbaric Fed guidelines.
