Sojourner Truth — the first black woman to be so honored at the Capitol. First Lady Michelle Obama: "I hope that Sojourner Truth would be proud to see me, a descendant of slaves, serving as the first lady of the United States of America."

Wanted to put a picture in because the video doesn't do the statue justice at the end - yikes - I believe the final statue was the one on the left

4. It's time, isn't it?
As I witnessed that gathering and now heard First Lady Michelle Obama talking, it gives me hope.

I can tell you from real experience that women who play fairly and try to progress their journey in local government face hurdles still. Even today, the men we are running against can't play fair.

Seeing this now did me a lot of good.

6. I like the one on the right better.
highlights her femininity more. And despite what I've read about her, she does seem rather feminine.

9. About time . . .
and I like the one on the right better, too, but the final is the one on the left. The one in the video doesn't have arms.

The part about her daughters seeing someone who looks like them was lovely. So many things about this country may be in the shitter at the moment, but we have a president who inspires confidence and a first lady we can be proud of.
