Have you ever seen such a sad-sack president?

It's President Bush reacting to the second and presumably final death of his rotten immigration bill. And lecturing Congress on what it needs to prove to the American people. He almost looks and sounds like someone has literally knocked the wind out of him (take a look and tell me if you don't agree) ...

3. He's melting right before our eyes
Like the witch in the Wizard of Oz. Actually, it's better to send thoughts of love to these people - it will melt them quicker. They feed off hate - that's what keeps them strong.

19. I was thinking "wet drunk"
You may be right about the dry drunk bit. We was not slurring speech the way we've heard on some occasions when he was clearly hitting the bottle. But his tone was really odd. He sounded like he hadn't slept for 3 days -- or just woke up with one hell of a hangover.

Without the slurred speech, I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that he has just been going without sufficient sleep lately. After all he has done to screw this world, he SHOULDN'T be getting any sleep.

Sometimes I felt his father was going to start dancing. I've seen junior do the sway before; very pronounced this time.

9. My take on this..
..is that he sounds and shuffles like a person who just heard some really really bad news just before walking out there to read that lame statement. Makes me wonder what shit is about to hit the fan (for him) that he heard about but we haven't yet.

Not so dry hangover works for me too.

10. Two things
A real failure to get the bill means an important malicious future program is squashed, one of the very very few real defeats this gang has suffered. What they wanted from the bill was a political/economic plaything that would guarantee a controlled floating mass of vote-less cheap labor to preoccupy displaced citizen workers from outsourcing. It would guarantee and outlet to allow Mexican thrashing of its own population that does not benefit fully from its own oil. It apparently is an exemplar of interplay between two nations that is an international business model for the future, where distant outsourcing is but one tool in the box of juggling public interests toward the rich and their controlling governments. The bill would institutionalize some ills, open vast avenues of public exploitation for others and create political opportunity for the GOP in its most cynical form. The playing off of hatreds and cheap jobs can always be made to work for a tyranny controlled government and MSM. Like HAVA and NCLB, the "good parts" can simply not be enacted, can be openly violated...while the poison pills take full and startling effect, opening other doors not even foreseen by legislators of good will.

The second thing is simply that once Bush faces real threat(not just failure) he looks bad, real bad. he could have knowledge sitting on his desk that America would take a serious terrorist hit tomorrow, and he would by contrast be calm, prepared, even elated. Prepared to exploit the situation that is. Who cannot remember how upset Bush appeared after his debate failures and sinking polls in 2004? What was the feeling in one's stomach when Bush appeared calm and upbeat on election day. I set out delivering circulars that last morning with the visceral knowledge we were screwed. I allowed hope its time, and so did the press acknowledging the polls showed a win. But Bush knew, he has not the guts to fake a brave face or a endure a fair or doubtful outcome. As such it is not this bill so much as the threat of investigations and legislative assertion of law. he doesn't care a damn about the people or anything else more than prevailing and surviving and owning the future for the dynasty team.

So long as he looks like this, the situation is mostly good for the world and for hope.

12. Sad. It's like he does not even understand.
Even his usual stupific 'supporters' know they are being insulted here. They just want him to enforce existing law.

But he won't. He's "Deciderman", not "Enforcerman".

is proof that he's not been doing his homework for the GOP. On Countdown they said he's not a lame duck, he's a cooked goose.
