2. Bottom line?
The majority of senators are bought and paid for by corporate America....which is why and how Bush/Cheny did so well.

The Bush admin were assholes...like cops or thugs they just did what they wanted...used fear and threats....played hardball?

Obama compromises....tries to please everyone...and so pleases no one. Changes are peripheral at best.

Meanwhile.....

4. Is there really any doubt this country has ceased being...
meaningfully democratic? It's an inverted totalitarian, proto-fascist/corporatist state: politics is subordinate to (corporate) economics when it's, typically, the other way around. (I'm paraphrasing Chris Hedges.)

Assuming there's a healthcare mandate within the dung-heap of a Senate bill, how is that not the definition of fascism: the merging of state and corporate power - essentially using state force to coerce taxpayers to hand even more money over the insurance parasites.

Obama (and more than a few Dems in Congress) needs to grow a spine, fast, before the 2010 midterms roll around.
