MSNBC The Rachel Maddow Show - 14 January 2009: Haitian ambassador to the United Nations shames Pat Robertson for 'The 700 Club' host's 'odious' comments.

RAYMOND JOSEPH: "I would like the whole world to know - America especially - that the independence of Haiti, when the slaves rose up against the French, and defeated the French army, powerful army, the U.S. was able to gain the Louisiana Territory for $15 million. That's three cents an acre. That's thirteen states west of the Mississippi that the Haitian slaves revolt in Haiti provided America. Also, the revolt of the rebels in Haiti allowed Latin America to be free. It is from Haiti that Simon Bolivar left with men, boats, to go deliver grand Colombia and the rest of South America. So, What pact the Haitians 'made with the devil' has helped the U.S. become what it is."

RACHEL MADDOW: "Mr. Ambassador, I would say that I have about as much in common with Pat Robertson as I do with anybody in the world who I have not met, and I cannot apologize for him, but if I could, I would. And I hope that you do not hear that as representative of the broad wishes of the American people. The reason we are making fun of him on this show is because we find his views so odious."

2. Rachel: "Odious pat robertson".
What a class act the Ambassador to America from Haiti is..Raymond Joseph.

They've suffered too much and I hope this long road to recovery is the beginning of a new and lasting era of Peace and Prosperity for them.

11. that cracked me up. but, please, don't do that - Pat ain't worth your soul.
I had a dream/vision of Jerry Falwell passing away, and he died the next day - No shit. Freaked me out. Unfortunately, for the world of caring humans, I have never had any visions for disgusting and odious Pat Robertson. What a sad sad human being he is. His crassness and self-importance is breathtaking.

7. Pat Robertson is the farthest thing from being a real Christian
I've EVER seen in my life. Some of the things this man has said and done over the years are beyond belief. This just may be the worst and most disgusting thing I've ever heard.

9. I noticed that he didn't deny that there had been a "pact with the devil,"
Edited on Thu Jan-14-10 01:51 AM by Bette Noir
so I did a little searching. What I found was that the leaders of the revolution had included voudou priests, who considered Catholicism to be the religion of the white oppressors. Can't say as I blame them. And, Mr. Robertson is outed as a fibber in the first degree.

10. Everyone has a chance.
In time everyone will have a chance to show what they are made of. This was Pat Robertson's chance and he failed. He has proven he is not a Christian and nothing but a raciest bigot. I am disappointed but not surprised.
Rush Limpdick is another thing, this guy is just plane stupid. I truly wish he had dropped dead in Hawaii a couple of weeks ago. Than we could ask where is the son of a bitches death certificate.

12. well, Pat's had his chances a plenty. He blamed 9/11 on Gay people. What a turd of a human he is.
good point about Limbaugh, had he dropped dead out there, that would have been an ironic twist.

14. Rush Limpdick....!!!
Very funny, and clever post, eirteacher..!!

Fortunately, Limpdick's blood pressure is probably

so high, we won't have to wait long for him to drop dead...!!!

Hopefully he'll do it while jacking his jaw on his radio show....

Then we can get the official reason of his death, from Pat Robertson..!!

LOL...!!!

13. Just my opinion,
I am not at all surprised by what he says or in this case said, but I do believe that Pat Roberston would have to improve by several magnitudes to reach the level of reprehensible.

15. One other thing..
One thing the ambassador left out and perhaps Rachel failed to mention - when the slaves revolted in Haiti it scared the crap out of the slave holders over here because it was feared that the American slaves would follow suit and revolt as well!

Just one more little ole secret about our real history...
