Unprotected and vulnerable, the small strip island of Grand Isle, Louisiana has been dealt the most devastating blow so far from the BP Oil Spill.

Chris Hernandez, a dedicated city employee for 30 years takes us on a tour of the 7 mile beach, which normally would be a very popular spot in the summer heat.

2. So sad.
I just wanted to reach in and grab that tiny little bird and scrub him off. I wish there was some way we could all help.

5. I too feel sorry for these people BUT
they are the same ones, who wanted the oil drilling. They are the same ones who were against government helping out. They were the same ones who constantly called Obama and the Democrats names.

Now that the shoe is on the other foot and they need the government, they are they first ones to blame Obama and the Democrats for not doing what they have been against since he took office.

YOU KNOW WHAT. YOU SURE AS HELL CAN'T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS. YOU SURE AS HELL CAN'T SAY YOU NEED THE GOVERNMENT ""ONLY"" WHEN YOU NEED THE GOVERNMENT. And then complain about it when other people need their intervention. But most of them are republicans and could you expect less. Do for me and not for others.

8. I agree..
the other issue is STATES responsibility! When all these Governors (RW) and elected officials voted for this..WHY did they NOT prepare for potential disasters?? I remember clearly, during Katrina.."It's NOT the responsibility of the Federal Gov*!! The STATES are supposed to be prepared and handle this disaster! Bush and his Regime didn't and STILL don't take ANY responsibility for what they did or didn't do! How easily they forget!

10. it's always the innocent
that suffer. But you know when you vote to protect corporate greed this is what you get. Bitwit said it well. You can't have it both ways. The sad thing is that even this won't change their minds. Decades of deregulation have just about brought us to our knees and they still don't get it. What does it take to change the essence of a man. (On Deadly Ground)

Big Business is primarily responsible for destroying the water we drink, the air we breathe and the food we eat. They have no care for the world they destroy, only for the money they make in the process. How many oil spills can we endure? Millions and millions of gallons of oil are now destroying the ocean and the many forms of life it supports....

as long as there is profit to be made from polluting the Earth, companies and individuals will continue to do what they want. We have to force these companies to operate safely and responsibly, and with all our best interests in mind. So that when they don't, we can take back our resources and our hearts and our minds and do what's right.

13. Oh really....
And how's the weather on your planet?

You know that will never happen. Come on now. Man has destroyed this planet. Game over. Now all that is left is time. We won't even amount to a speedbump in the geological record when the final chapter of this planet is written. Sure we had a chance to make things work but we have already fucked that up.

16. maybe so...
One thing is for sure though - with the "inertia" of stupidity out there it will have to get 100x worse before people change their ways. It's gonna get *realllly* bad before (if) it gets better.

19. While I agree with you, we still have to try to stop this insanity --
We may be watching the final chapter of this planet --

No one knows if it will keep turning -- if it will survive this war on nature.

Meanwhile, whatever time is left would also be better spent without

patriarchy/organized patriarchal religion/capitalism -- the unholy trinity of destruction!!
