Just a bit of levity - Found this as I was shifting through all the Lonelygirl15 crap - These two have given laughter and a sense of sanity in the insane six years of the Bush Empire. They deserve a kudos of heartfelt thanks for keeping it real and helping perhaps the ones with fuzzy vision see clearer, clear enough to push the Democrats to hold both houses. They have earned my respect and gratitude.

1. Thanks. It's been awhile.
I'm sending it to my very conservative mom who also happens to be a fan of Jon Stewart. And is 78 years old. She'll love it.

9. Hmm - I'd question the use of 'a' in front of 'kudos'
That's only a very recent usage. From the Oxford English Dictionary:

Glory, fame, renown.

1831 Fraser's Mag. III. 391 He obtained kudos immense. 1841 DISRAELI 23 Feb. in Corr. w. Sister (1886) 171, I am spoken of with great kudos in ‘Cecil’. 1859 DARWIN in Life & Lett. (1887) II. 168 Lyell has read about half of the volume in clean sheets, and gives me very great kudos. 1889 Boy's Own Paper 17 Aug. 729/1 Our champion was held to have lost no kudos in the encounter. 1970 G. F. NEWMAN Sir, You Bastard vii. 196 News services buzzed, but George Doodie sought no kudos; his name was mentioned only once. 1972 J. CREASEY Splinter of Glass vii. 55 He wanted Roger to take the kicks if this failed but was prepared to give him the kudos if the use of the newspapers succeeded.

¶Sometimes erron. treated as pl.; so kudo (back-formation) sing., honourable mention, praise for an achievement (see also quot. 1941).
1941 J. SMILEY Hash House Lingo 34 Kudo, good standing with the management. 1950 F. ALLEN in G. Marx Groucho Lett. (1967) 73 A man sitting on a toilet bowl swung open the men's room door and added his kudo to the acclaim. 1961 Wall Street Jrnl. (Eastern ed.) 18 Oct. 12/2 This did not win Mr. Eisenhower many kudos in the press. 1963 Life 19 Apr. 29/2 A kudo to Life for a fine story on baseball's spring training. 1972 Sunday Mirror 17 Sept. 47/1 This below-strength Chelsea side captured the few kudos that were going. 1972 Homes & Gardens Nov. 60 It seems almost a kudos to have a lady pilot. 1972 Bankers' Mag. Winter 23/2 Kudos are expressed to Messrs. Gene Jackson, Joel Anderson, and John Tolford for their aid.

You certainly wouldn't talk about 'a glory', 'a fame' or 'a renown' in that context.

4. Everyone thinks these guys lean left. Don't be so sure.
I think they are willing to point out anyone who makes a fool of themselves and of course now DEMS will have an equal opportunity to look like fools. Let's hope they don't take the opportunity because I'm sure these guys will not let it slide by!

Colbert is a Democrat:

Although by his own account he was not particularly political before joining the cast of The Daily Show, Colbert is a self-described Democrat. He is also a practicing Roman Catholic and a Sunday school teacher. He lives in Montclair, New Jersey with his wife Evelyn McGee-Colbert who appeared with him in an episode of Strangers with Candy as his mother. She had an uncredited cameo as a nurse in the series pilot, as well. The couple has three children: Madeline, Peter, and John — all of whom have appeared on The Daily Show.

and Stewart, on the other had, describes himself as a Whig:

Stewart attracted media attention as a result of a television exchange with former CNN personality Tucker Carlson on Crossfire on October 15, 2004. Stewart criticized the state of television journalism and pleaded with the show's hosts to "stop hurting America", and referred to both Carlson and co-host Paul Begala as "partisan hacks" (when asked about his own political affiliations, Stewart typically responds that he is a Whig). This exchange became one of the most widely viewed Internet videos to date, and a topic of much media discussion.

If anyone in Congress makes a fool of themselves, I believe they are mature enough to realize that Colbert, Stewart, Letterman and the like, will make fun of them. They just have had sooo much to work with the past six years, I only hope that the bright future we see with the Democrats, they will still have careers.

Side Note: Colbert had a great interview on 60 Minutes back in August:
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/04/27/60minutes/main1553506.shtml

His most telling and honest exchange I thought was this:

At home, Colbert is a doting father who makes sure his kids do not see the other Colbert — he only rarely let his kids watch the show.

"It's just like a pure silly thing. But you know, I truck in insincerity. With a very straight face, I say things I don't believe," Colbert tells Safer.

"Kids can't understand irony or sarcasm, and I don't want them to perceive me as insincere," Colbert says, "Because one night, I'll be putting them to bed and I'll say ... 'I love you, honey.' And they'll say, 'I get it. Very dry, Dad. That's good stuff,'" jokes Colbert.
