The GOP is so nervous about getting a majority back during the midterm elections that they're going more crazy than usual.

Or are they just being themselves?

It's so hard to tell anymore.

What's the DU consensus? You be the judge!

1. No, they're losing it.
I'm going to be really amazed if they don't blow the midterms. Obama has a lot of bad press right now, and often Congress changes composition after a sweep like in 2008, but the repubs are trying to tap into anger - of course - yet they're just coming across as idiots. Just my two cents. I think the majority sees through that game, even though I'm not expressing it very well.

3. Those crazy conservatives!!!
But as funny as that was to watch, aren't we underestimating their appeal to angry Americans? I mean, who doesn't want to shoot things when they're angry?

4. There is a lot of anger in America ...
... there always has been and there always will be. It's in our nature. But I also think - and I hope I'm not wrong - that we go through cycles of being clueless to bad leadership (voting Bush in twice) and then letting our pendulum swing in the other direction. I think that's where we are, and I think that's why the GOP is so desperate.

5. OK so I slept on it...
... and I think I'm a bit offended by this video. The GOP is more than just a fringe collection of gun nuts and birthers. Not that I agree with their platform but I don't see what's funny about the all-too-likely future that includes Boehner as Speaker.

Who else has watched the video? Thoughts?

6. Must have been a rough night of sleep...
... not sure how you can let a video offend you. It's the policies and twisted opinions of the fringe right that's offensive. And although, based on your note, we agree that they are "fringe", the fact of the matter is that they're the ones getting the media attention and someone has to put them in their true light: not as moral superiors, but as insecure, bumper sticker shouting lunatics. If you don't want Boehner becoming Speaker, you should probably fight him, and not general efforts to expose the fringe right and keep them in their fringe place.

Just my two cents.

7. Well satire is one thing, but...
Even if it's as funny as this... but c'mon, to use friends or actors to stand in for right wing lunatics? I mean, that whole fake birther chick thing was pretty transparent. Yes, crazy republicans are funny (if scary) -- but you don't need to go putting words in their mouths. They do plenty well on their own.

9. Yep, I can assure you ...
Those are real republicans, not actors. That is, if there's a difference!

10. Sorry Chicks and BondWooley...
Not buying it.
NOBODY, even insane republicans (and I'm including those in my very own family) are that out there.
I've seen out there.
I live in New York.
Now stop hiring actors to do your dirty work.

11. Um, oops. OK, I made a mistake...
Googled that nut and, well, yes, apparently she does exist.
Now I'm truly disturbed. Still laughing, but in that distressed help-me kind of way...

14. Funny, there's a person in England...
... who contacted me and refused to believe that she existed. Only in American, I guess. Well, hopefully ;)

16. And it works!
I called 911 and asked for Obama and there was a Happy Meal at my doorstep in ten minutes!
