Source: Gina McGalliard, "Creepy Christian Patriarchy Movement Shackles Daughters to Their Fathers and Homes." AlterNet: November 29, 2010.

YAWWWNNNN...same ol' primitive religious thinking recycled from many millenia ago. The article states (and Ana reads): "Kathryn Joyce, author of the 2009 book Quiverfull: Inside the Christian Patriarchy Movement, estimates the CPM population to be in the low tens of thousands, but the rise of evangelical and fundamentalist Christianity over the past several decades makes it difficult to predict how large the CPM following could eventually become." Also:

The Botkin sisters aim to validate living a life of confinement with staunch, if unfounded, opinions and beliefs regarding college. “College campuses have become dangerous places of anxiety, wasted years, mental defilement and moral derangement,” they write. Although neither of the sisters has attended college, they also claim universities are hotbeds of Marxism that forbid a free exchange of ideas and seek to indoctrinate students in leftist thinking. Elsewhere, they quote a document from the pro-patriarchy website Fathers for Life that states that the “prime purposes of feminism are to establish a lesbian-socialist republic and to dismantle the family unit,” echoing Pat Robertson’s notorious statement that feminism is a “socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism, and become lesbians.”

1. And people, even here, object when we compare these nutcases
to the Taliban.

Religion probably encourages all those things more than feminism.

(I just love it when witchcraft is a concern.)

8. RIGHT! And to use Christians stupid argument or question...
they ask us atheist all the time, "Why do you spend so much time arguing against a god you claim does not exist?" Well, of course the answer to that is obvious because Christianity is what hinders progress & corrupts the political system. However, to turn the question on the Christians, "Why do you focus so much on with craft if you don't believe in it?" I have NEVER heard of witchcraft EVER doing harm to anything in history or the present day...Only the DELUSIONAL would say it has or thinks it does!

6. What is her name?
What is this lady's name? I know Cenk, but I never remember this lady's name. Looked for her on the Young Turk's web site and could not find her. I think she does a great job.

9. That's Ana Kasparian. She's on quite often, her name appears on
the screen during this segment. She is a free lance writer for several on-line publications, mainly about sexism, women's issues, gay issues, and public education.

11. Thanks!
I always enjoy catching her segments. She's good with Cenk, too, but too often Cenk interrupts her with a sound effect or comment cut-in that seems sometimes to marginalize her. I catch this often on morning radio programs where the woman host seems relegated to saying "Uh huh" to whatever the male hosts have to say. Still love Cenk, and he's not that bad as the example I just gave, but anyway I think Ana is great.

10. I vote for the lesbian socialist answer to the world's problems because
They will do much better at it than straight male (and female) capitalists have done.
