2. The GOP doesn't care.
A big percentage are millionaires and the rest have a good paying job with benefits. They know where their next check is coming from.

4. This is class warfare
and the enemy's tactic is simple: Destroy our ability to act in a united and organized way (kill the unions). Pit working people against each other (public vs private sector workers declining wages) then pick us off a few million at a time in the name of fiscal responsibility until there is no coherent or democratic means left to resist.

5. this video makes me ashamed
The people who caused this economic nightmare giving the finger to the ones they intentionally hurt. But the worse part are Americans who agree with them simply because they aren't suffering. The stench of the hypocrisy is stifling. Conservative christian values makes me sick. While Bernanke is busy with his QE2 our people are wondering where their next meal will come from and now it's winter. Republicans are pathological. Anyone who kicks a man when he's down..epecially when they caused it..needs shock therapy.

…a good deal of the other party’s opposition to our agenda has also been rooted in their sincere and fundamental belief about government. It’s a belief that government has little or no role to play in helping this nation meet our collective challenges. It’s an agenda that basically offers two answers to every problem we face: more tax breaks for the wealthy and fewer rules for corporations.

Republicans have governed for decades under the assumption that we need to keep government “off the backs” of big business (deregulation), while rewarding them by starving government (tax cuts). Then big business, untethered by regulations, massively screws the country and the now-diminished government, starved by those tax cuts, isn’t quite able to clean up the mess. Then Republicans say, “See! Government sucks!” It’s quite a racket.

6. What Republicans don't get is this:
IN LESS THAN TWO MONTHS, A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE GOING TO START GETTING TOSSED OUT ON THE STREET IN THE DEAD OF WINTER AND WILL HAVE NO FOOD

You either care or you don't.

I thought that was a rather simple concept to grasp.

Apparently not.

7. I feel sorry for some of these people
I know it's hard finding a job for older people and people in certain professions but I'm surprised the young nurse can't find a job. There doesn't seem to be any reason a nurse can't find a job given a year to look.

8. You haven't met up with some of the cuts in medical systems, hospitals, offices, and
publicly funded nursing (school nurses, etc)?

The recession means every part of the the service professions have taken a cut in what they can provide. Hospital management has figured out ways for 5 nurses to do what 6 used to do. Stuff like that.

11. I am sure many people will die from this.
No way to heat their homes, if they still have one.
The Suicide rate will soar even higher. In my 50 years, I have never seen the suicide rate so high.
Is this a continuation of "The Final Solution" that (yes) we cooperated with Hitler with in the lead-up to WWII?
Venezuela and many of the South American countries are showing the world that there are viable solutions. Yet America and many other "civilized" nations are thwarting their every attempt at "people power." They are not perfect but look what we have become. A "banana republic"; Fascist, Corporatist, take your choice.
Currently, we are one of the few nations that refuse to rebel at the corporate takeover. We used to be a nation of fighters.
Imagine if an FDR had the "bully pulpit" and was willing to inform Americans of what is happening (happened) to our country.
If we could hear the truth, forget MSM, maybe we would do something to CHANGE IT.
We all had hoped that President Obama was that person.
It doesn't only require so many votes, it requires an informed citizenry to demand so many votes...
After the stock market crash of '29, there were a lot of suicides. These were mainly by people (we are taught) that were wealthy and lost "it all."
Now we have people who are poor, many used to be able to survive with their often stagnant pay. Now there is no pay. Should we all move to homeless shelters and tent cities and raise our children as paupers?
It seems that when the wealthy were affected it was a "Great Depression." Now that the poor and working class are being devastated, it is a "Great Recession."
"Our" fix? More wage freezes for the low earning citizens. Insanity...no, it seems like planned Genocide.
The very least that President Obama should have done (the least), is Reinstate The Fairness Doctrine. At least Americans would have been informed, honestly, of our plight. With that honest information, the citizenry could have decided their own fate at election time (if elections still determine our leadership).
As John Mellencamp sang..."When the Walls come tumbling down"... Oh well, at least the wealthy are profiting more than ever.

12. Obama should have been screaming his head off about the Republicans
actions before the vote. Every day the surrogates should have been out there too damn it.

EXPOSE the Rethuglicans in a pro active timely manner. I'm suppose to believe we had no way to fight
back PR wise??

Disgusting.

That's what my right-wing friends are posting on Facebook.

Yummy and nutritious prayers to compensate for destroying the economy and peoples lives. Thank you so much for your generous prayers.

...while the poor and hungry become more so.

I am so disgusted with Obama and hte Democrats right now. If they had any fight in them, the GOP wouldn't be able to pull this crap.

if you don't care about Americans as a whole, don't dare claim you love this country because WE are the country. As for you republican fools who live in the same tax brackey as these folks, FUCK YOU too!

Republicans want Americans homeless, wandering the streets looking for food like nomads. Piss enough people off, and there will be those who revolt.

23. GOP = Scrooge
I can't help but think how much the GOP (or those against the unemployment extension), are like Mr Ebenezer Scrooge, when he's given the opportunity to give to those less fortunate than himself:

“At this festive season of the year, Mr. Scrooge,” said the gentleman, taking up a pen, “it is more than usually desirable that we should make some slight provision for the Poor and destitute, who suffer greatly at the present time. Many thousands are in want of common necessaries; hundreds of thousands are in want of common comforts, sir.”

“Are there no prisons?” asked Scrooge.

“Plenty of prisons,” said the gentleman, laying down the pen again.

“And the Union workhouses?” demanded Scrooge. “Are they still in operation?”

“They are. Still,” returned the gentleman, “I wish I could say they were not.”

“The Treadmill and the Poor Law are in full vigour, then?” said Scrooge.

“Both very busy, sir.”

“Oh! I was afraid, from what you said at first, that something had occurred to stop them in their useful course,” said Scrooge. “I’m very glad to hear it.”

“Under the impression that they scarcely furnish Christian cheer of mind or body to the multitude,” returned the gentleman, “a few of us are endeavouring to raise a fund to buy the Poor some meat and drink, and means of warmth. We choose this time, because it is a time, of all others, when Want is keenly felt, and Abundance rejoices. What shall I put you down for?”

“Nothing!” Scrooge replied.

“You wish to be anonymous?”

“I wish to be left alone,” said Scrooge. “Since you ask me what I wish, gentlemen, that is my answer. I don’t make merry myself at Christmas and I can’t afford to make idle people merry. I help to support the establishments I have mentioned—they cost enough; and those who are badly off must go there.”

“Many can’t go there; and many would rather die.”

“If they would rather die,” said Scrooge, “they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population. Besides—excuse me—I don’t know that.”

“But you might know it,” observed the gentleman.

“It’s not my business,” Scrooge returned. “It’s enough for a man to understand his own business, and not to interfere with other people’s. Mine occupies me constantly. Good afternoon, gentlemen!”

Seeing clearly that it would be useless to pursue their point, the gentlemen withdrew. Scrooge resumed his labours with an improved opinion of himself, and in a more facetious temper than was usual with him.
