7. My husband...

grew up in the part of Iowa that King represents and you know he doesn't sound at all like King. My husband has no accent or twang and never has. That man sounds like someone from the south who moved north.
It seems part of the strategy of the GOP has been to move conservatives around the country and fund them very well so they can claim that the areas they moved to sound and think like they do.
Northwestern Iowa is known as Siouxland and is mostly farmers and very small towns. My god the whole state has only about 2 million people.
We need to pay attention to subtle things like accents and body language more because King is a ringer and not a genuine Iowan.

Maybe the right wing crazies which I could marginally grant but were you talking Iowans? No way! Most are as nice anyplace else in this country. I take a rather broad view of human behavior (as a liberal/progressive)and have noticed narrow-mindedness in large cities as well as among farmers. I have also seen the opposite: farmers with depth and breadth of understanding and city dwellers who find common ground with them.
I hate stereotypes too much to concede that conservatives are all like Beck, Limbaugh, King, et al. I just hate that those $#^&$ people have found a better story than I have.
