I can't edit or alert on the other one, don't know what happened.

This segment is really good, as per her usual.

2. It aint just the GOP that want to give hundreds of billions to the super-rich.
Apparently Pres Obama is going to also. It will now be the Obama tax breaks for the elites.

3. This is NOT an example of Godwin's Law.
I really cannot think of a bigger success in propaganda and disinformation since Goebbels, than that which the whole "trickle-down; Saint Ronny did no wrong and could do no wrong" meme has 'enjoyed' all this time. If anyone can think of an alternative, I'll stand corrected.

I used to use a pretty obvious and simple metaphor to describe it. Trickle-down is a two-story outhouse. Guess which level YOU are on.

11. Everyone should know: The Two Santa Claus Theory
I heard of Jude Wanniski years back but in 2008 Thom Hartmann brought it all in focus: Reaganomics had the exact affect intended!

And Common Dreams: http://www.commondreams.org/view/2009/01/26-0

Dems were highly successful for many decades from the 40's to the 70's with SS, welfare etc. and the Rs needed a competing idea and it was tax cuts as the solution for everything. They'd become the second Santa. The results were two fold kill money for social programs and move money to those backing the Rs. They are still pushing this idea and it's absolutely destroying America.

9. that's not true
When Reagan took office the debt was almost $1 Trillion, when W left office it was $10 Trillion.

Reagan tripled it and W doubled it.

5. When have we not had Reaganomics?
As I recall Clinton raised taxes on the rich and the economy boomed and he did not even raise them very much. It created jobs and balanced the budget. The real question is why aren't the Democrats making the point? Are they all believers in trickle down?

13. Reagan was truly a cold blooded asshole!
Edited on Sat Dec-04-10 11:21 PM by LaPera
Not a single thing did Reagan ever do as governor or president that made things better for the workers, the poor, middle-class nor true small business - But Reagan always did everything he could, ever bent over backwards to help the rich and their corporations at the expense of the workers & middle class!

Reagan love towards the workers was to bust up their unions for corporations profits....busting unions made Reagan, republicans & corporations happy - The workers only united voice for wages, pensions, medical care was silenced as often as possible by the no good asshole Ronald Reagan.

But Reagan always listened, & supported million dollar corporate lobbyist and always did as the lobbyist wanted - and number one on the corporate lobbyist list was to break up all workers unions...

Reagan was nothing more than a pimp for the corporations and the rich!

Edited on Sat Dec-04-10 11:58 PM by pauldp
Now if only the Dem leadership would fucking use it. The Republicans have no evidence to support their Reagan fantasy.
We need to call them on it.

Thank you Rachel.

15. Incredible
the number of poor people who remain convinced that St. Ronnie had their best interests at heart.

Sad, the number of poor people who identify with their oppressors, much the same way abused spouses identify with their abusers.

The evolution of our species seems to have come to an important fork in the road. I wonder which path we'll choose. I wonder if we can get our collective heads out of our collective adolescent asses and grow up.

17. Why can't Obama do a Prime Time Oval Office Address like
Reagan did and show the very charts that Rachel displayed? It needs to be there in black and white for people to actually get a sense of it. Percentages and amounts thrown out in a statement kind of evaporate.
