4. I love Grayson but
this point is not him at his finest. I suppose it shows that the economy can prosper with higher taxes for the wealthy. Not really, though.

I certainly believe that the upper rates need to be raised, a lot. But much of the success in the Clinton years was due to the arrival of the internet as a commercial force, and Larry Summers and Co.'s bogus leveraged financial products and bubbles. So it would be good to use a different argument, such as the top-heavy distribution of income in this country, how that differs from U.S. income distribution just 30 years ago, and how it differs from many other countries who are doing just fine for their people without giving everything away to the rich.

11. It's been obvious where I live
Not only with the amount of people I know looking for a job that were downsized, there's
a part of town, just like in many surrounding towns that have these multi-million dollar homes.
Since last year 90% of these homes were having major renovations done, and you know it was costly to each.
Heck, the property taxes on those homes start at $45,000 a year so you know they're spending serious cash
on fixing them up, and that's because they were the ones who benefited.
I don't begrudge anyone for what they have, it's how they earned it that didn't allow me to do the same.
Heck, they even made the game lopsided so I couldn't participate.
But, that's life.

13. The tax cuts didn't cause the economic downturn.
I'm sorry. Did they hurt recovery, almost certainly. Did they hinder progress, again almost certainly. But overpricing on the housing market, the end of the tech and Internet bubbles, and the increase in jobs being sent overseas is what caused the economic down turn. Not the tax cuts. We need to stick to the truth here people. It's on our side. Use it.

16. Incorrect =
The tech bubble burst in 2000 - it was replaced by a housing bubble.
The housing bubble was caused by a reducing interest rates to almost 1% - this meant wealthy people with their TAX CUTS were looking for investments,
these investments came in the form of derivatives which came from cheap loans, bundled up and sold to the wealthy speculators.

In other words there was a flood of cheap money into the market via tax cuts and low interest rates, this caused the housing bubble and more specifically the
derivatives and debt bubble - the economic crisis is best referred to a as a debt crisis - thats what it was - the banks were in a debt crisis and the people
provided liquidity to bail them out.

The absolute crisis facing the planet today is a debt crisis - it was initiated by the banks - this was transferred to sovereign governments and in turn transferred to
tax payers.

Raising taxes would ensure that there is a more equitable (right now it is disgusting joke American inequality) which would provide massive, massive stimulus. Tax cuts are far, far more destructive to domestic employment that "Jobs going to India" - jobs have always gone offshore - always, since the days preceeding slavery, it is not destructive force as the the amount of profit gained from goods and services produced where there is no comparative advantage (technical, resource etc), means that it is better to move these offshore where there is minimal profit and move onto an industry with higher barriers to entry and greater profit potential.

19. I use general terms and you describe them in detail. Very well...
But you have given no proof that tax cuts do anything at all.

21. Not sure the original comment was "incorrect", however
you added some valuable information on what leads billionaires into risky investments and that was certainly part of the cause of the housing bubble.

Peace,
Tex Shelters

20. I think his point was more that
tax cuts don't work than that tax hikes are the only cause of employment.

It is counter the Republican logic and lie that tax cuts produce jobs, and that is the important point that much of the media and political establishment want to ignore. Tax cuts don't produce jobs. There is no evidence for it.

Also on Grayson--his "die quickly" regarding Republican's health care bill is a tough act to follow.

Peace,
Tex Shelters

24. Maybe he can go TV after this
I'd love to see a show with him and Glenn Beck, in which in every show he physically beats the living crap out of Glenn Beck.
