Cenk Uygur (host of The Young Turks) explains why president Barack Obama needs to learn some basic lessons about politics in light of his most recent cave-in to Republicans on tax cuts for the rich.

1. Excellent point
It is part of the 'bully pulpit' idea that if you can't convince the people in Congress and I would even extend that to the blue dog Democrats then you take your argument to the American people and as Cenk points out you put the pressure on. Another method is the old you vote for my legislation A and I will support your legislation B. Obviously that probably wouldn't work with the Republicans because their whole legislative agenda is 'we will give Obama and the Democrats no victories no matter who it hurts', but with the blue dogs you just might be able to make some deals if you just tried. It seems like right now the only people that are really involved in developing legislation are Obama and a couple of Republican leaders from the Senate and House and maybe a blue dog or two. I don't really think that's how Representative government is supposed to work. If nothing else I think we would be better off right now if Obama would just shut up and let the Republicans and Democrats fight it out in the House and Senate. The only thing we need to hear from Obama on any particular piece of legislation is whether he is willing to sign it. Basically if he is not willing fight and lead then get the hell out of the way.

2. Don't buy the spin

When Bush's gift to billionaire expires, if nothing is done, tax rates go back to what they were during Clinton's Presidency when we had a good economy, people were doing okay, and the government had surpluses. And those rates are less than what they were under the elder Bush and Reagan. So it seems Obama is far right compared to all past Presidents.

Blaming the Republicans for agreeing to another trillion to the filthy rich, isn't believable. If Obama can't make the argument and be willing to fight this, he isn't willing to stand for anything. I mean seriously, even a five year old knows this is evil.

3. Obama is not what he represented himself to be that's the bottom line
I knew he was bought off when he responded to the gulf spill the way he did.
That was the last straw for me. Letting the leak continue with BP in charge for months.
By the way, they're still spraying those toxic chemicals - have you seen photos of the welts,
rashes, and breathing problems they create?

5. Eff this guy
I used to love listening to him talk, always seemed so well informed and well spoken, now he sounds like an idiot. None of what he's saying agrees with itself. idk what I'm gonna do in 2012. God help us all
