1. This point cannot be emphasized enough
In outsourcing manufacturing to China, companies like GE force their rivals to do the same in order to stay competitive. It becomes a race to the bottom, decimating manufacturing employment in the United States. But U.S. consumers are still supposed to have the money to buy all these things manufactured in China! It is a disastous long-term strategy - and here we are.
