(If you don't have time to watch it now, I thoroughly recommend bookmarking it for when you do. This will most likely not be shown on American TV)

The other parts can be watched here: http://www.youtube.com/user/TheMediaCorruption#g/c/768F3DA0D12B82A4

Also available to watch in full here: http://www.viddler.com/explore/TruceAssholes/videos/7/

A powerful and timely investigation into the media's role in war, tracing the history of 'embedded' and independent reporting from the carnage of World War One to the destruction of Hiroshima, and from the invasion of Vietnam to the current war in Afghanistan and disaster in Iraq. As weapons and propaganda become even more sophisticated, the nature of war is developing into an 'electronic battlefield' in which journalists play a key role, and civilians are the victims. But who is the real enemy?

John Pilger says in the film: "We journalists... have to be brave enough to defy those who seek our collusion in selling their latest bloody adventure in someone else's country... That means always challenging the official story, however patriotic that story may appear, however seductive and insidious it is. For propaganda relies on us in the media to aim its deceptions not at a far away country but at you at home... In this age of endless imperial war, the lives of countless men, women and children depend on the truth or their blood is on us... Those whose job it is to keep the record straight ought to be the voice of people, not power."

5. K&R. Glad Pilger is presenting this. It deserves more scrutiny.
It was tough to see the lead up to the war on Iraq based on so many blatant lies,
with media giants going along with those lies even though many knew them to be lies,
and millions of us around the world protested against going to war.

15. I am so
outraged by this I can't breathe. I want to rip that silly little smile off that guy's face and let him know what terror *really* is. The military who just shoots them up - fuck! Forget this shit - go back to hand-to-hand combat, look the enemy in the face, KNOW who you are killing! This is just fucking senseless!

I hope you find this as informative and compelling as I did. If you can download a good quality copy it's well worth it, as it's a real keeper that deserves watching at least a couple of times. (ETA if anyone wants a hand getting hold of a high quality standalone version please feel free to send me a PM)

Also, I reckon it really needs to go viral so please comment, fave and share using the options at the YouTube link.

10. I remember reading Pilger's reports on the wars back when
they began. He was one of the best sources for real information back then and his work was posted often on Democratic Boards. If it were not for him, and Dahr Jamail among the few real investigative reporters, we might never have known the full truth about those wars.

I may be wrong, but I did think he had taken time off, exhausted by the work he has done for the past decade.

There is an incredible interview online, that he did with Hugo Chavez a while ago. If the American people were exposed to this level of journalism, this would be a very different country.

Thanks for posting this, I will watch it later. I know he was outraged over the drone attacks in Afghanistan when Bush was president. He wrote in detail about what he witnessed while on the ground and it was simply devastatingly heart-breaking.

I am so glad to see him stand up for Wikileaks, there is no one whose opinion I respect more than his and just knowing he is on the side of Wikileaks should tell people a lot about this whole affair.

17. Fantastic job by John Pilger -- As we see from WikiLeaks, journalists are
our defense against the lies of those in power --

but our journalists aren't made of the same stuff bombs are made of --

they are easily destroyed by those in power.

Collusion is one of the filthiest words I know --

and certainly "embedded" can convey only one reality -- "in bed with."

One of the most difficult realizations for a citizen/human to arrive

at is the suicidal nature of patriarchy --

And that is simply because none of us think that way --

It prevents us all from understanding the true threat of those who worship violence.

Pariarchy and Violence are mirror images of one another --

Patriarchy -- and its underpinning =

Organized patriarchal religion -- and its economic system =

Capitalism =

The Unholy Trinity

19. But
Lets not get too carried away with our wishing for the world we want and lose sight of the real world we live in. Man has been killing his fellow man from the very beginning. Ask the German Jews that managed to survive the 1930s and 1940s if choosing to fight would have been a better choice than trying to live a higher form of life. Our men and women in uniform are engaging those that would, if given the chance, annihilate us. We cant make those enemies go away by wishing. I think we should be getting out of the wars we are in but I dont believe the bad guys will let us live in peace just because we choose peace. Sometimes you have to fight.

And the piece is just as much an effort at controlling opinion, "public relations", propaganda and selling ones own point of view as that which it rails against. Why it sounds like they dont believe we have any real enemies. To compare WW1 propaganda that used the Statue of Liberty to the 911 devistation is rediculous. The World Trade Center is really gone and the radicals in the world want that for our entire civilization. Question-Do you believe that the US has enemies intent on setting off an atomic weapon or other WMD on our soil?

40. " our men and women in uniform are engaging those that would
..annihilate us." Your words. Doubtfull that any Iraqi would have been interested in annihilating us before their country was bloodedly invaded by the US. In Iraq's case we created our Iraqi enemies by bloodshed, bombing and straffing. This country was in no danger from Iraq and the Iraq invasion was not a defensive action, period.

37. always wanted to tell you that I love the "The Jar & the Rocks, Pebbles, Sand and Beer " story ty.
The Jar & the Rocks, Pebbles, Sand and Beer

A Philosophy professor one day sat several items on the desk in front of his class. Wordlessly he picked up a large empty jar and proceeded to fill it with rocks, rocks about 2" in diameter. He then asked his students if the jar was full? They unanimously agreed that the jar was full.

So the professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles, of course, rolled into the open areas between the rocks. He then asked his students again if the jar was full. Again, they unanimously agreed that the jar was full.

Then the professor picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. "Now," the professor said, "I want you to recognize that this is your life. The rocks are the important things: your family, your partner, your friends, your health, your children, and things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house, your car. The sand is everything else. If you put the sand into the jar first, there is no room for the pebbles or the rocks. The same goes for your life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you.

At this point the professor proceeded to pour a glass of beer into the jar full of rocks, pebbles, and sand. Of course the beer filled the remaining spaces within the jar making the jar truly full. After finishing off the remaining beer in the glass, the professor spoke. "No matter how full your life seems to be, there is always room for beer. Set your priorities well cause the rest is just rocks, pebbles and sand."
