1. My local jail is for profit

They charge 12%, or more, to put money in an inmates account, to buy at the corporate store, and a fee to get the balance back out when released. I tried to pay the lady at the window, in order to avoid the fee, and was told I couldn't do that. This for-profit organization is raping their literally captive clients, who have no choice but to pay, and who are generally those least able to afford what they are being charged.

Nevertheless, the absurd notion that municipal government is some kind of corporate cash cow for municipal employees is both offensive and false. Furthermore, there's not a whole lot more self-defeating or disgusting than one group of working people allowing themselves to used to undermine another to the benefit of the real corporate class.
