Cenk Uygur (host of The Young Turks) explains why the media should generally support WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. Cenk had an exclusive interview with Assange earlier in the day on MSNBC.

1. Corporate McPravda is being humiliated, not only by Assange
but by journalists in other countries. The union in Australia stood up for him and Wikileaks. Le Monde allowed their readers to do what Time chickened out of, name Assange "man of the year". Reporters Without Borders is hosting a mirror.

But I don't think Corporate McPravda cares because they're lapdogs. That is why their businesses are failing all over. Their owners will have to use them as permanent tax shelters because they lose audience every day.

They barely spoke up when Rumsfeld bombed al Jazeera or the Palestine Hotel or when he was torturing journalists at Gitmo like Sami al Haj. They made more of the leak than the video of those Reuters reporters being killed.

They're fucking hopeless and a waste of time except for the information they accidentally put out.

2. Excellent comment.
Our media is bought. The government just barters with the media by saying, we'll give you an interview with so-and-so and a scoop on this information if you print stuff or say stuff that is favorable to what we, the government, are doing.

That is what is happening.
