CO2 is a naturally occurring compound, that plays a profound and vital role in a myriad of natural processes.
How could more of it be bad?

Here's how.

1. Well as we are part of nature, anthropogenic catastrophic climate change
is indeed a 'natural' disaster. It is however at least theoretically preventable, or maybe not.

2. It really pisses me off when you people mock Bachmann's little theories
with things like facts and science. Leave her be with her elementary school conclusions based on her experience of the world filtered through the lens of her beliefs.

Emoticon, emoticon, emoticon (i just can't decide which ones)

3. When someone gives me this crock
I ask them what would happen if they sealed themselves up in a room full of CO2...since it's so natural and all it shouldn't kill them - right?...

4. Now let me see;
Michelle insists CO2 is harmless and is a natural part of life here on Earth.
Who remembers the movie 'Apollo 13?' Wasn't a large part of the drama concerned with the lack of a way to rid the spacecraft of CO2 after their filter malfunctioned? A level higher than normal, in this case not much higher than atmospheric levels, nearly killed the astronauts?

Secondly, more carbon is liberated from storage-in the guise of pumping gases, coal and oil-to the surface. As these combustibles are burned the by-products are liberated into the atmosphere. This is due to the thermodynamic laws that the other side insists are broken.

Au contraire, the imperfect burning of the fuels produces heat. This liberates the original molecules which are all carbon based. This results in an energy change. When the elements and lower state molecules reform this also results in an energy change. When you do the math, there is no change in the amount of energy. This conforms to the law which states that energy can change states but there can be no loss or gain in the total amount of energy within the system.

The problem stems from the fact that the gases quickly form into more molecules but in different forms than before. Carbon is also very reactive. It has 4 'spots' that accept just about anything else. Most of the available things at that point is oxygen. This usually forms CO2 and CO. The latter is carbon monoxide a very deadly gas to most life. Carbon dioxide is the greenhouse gas mostly in the news. The worse threat that comes from this burning is methane. It is CH4. This happens less than CO2 formation though.

Now to Michelle's claim that the carbon cycle is natural. She is correct in stating that before industrialization this was true. However, after all the trillions of tons of fuel that have been added to the mix have wrecked havoc on this balance. The more carbon the more the cycle is skewed. What is happening is that the free oxygen is attaching to the carbon. This produces more CO2. What also happens is that this results in less oxygen for us to breathe. Nice, huh?

Take that Michelle. Unfortunately, it is our future generation that have to pay for both her ignorance and her prostitution for being an apologist for the oil companies.

6. Why would anyone think...
.... nature is benign? Nature at worst is out to get you, and at best is indifferent. CO2 may be harmless to Michell in the House chamber, but too much of it will kill her. As will too much oxygen, or too much nitrogen, or too much methane, or too much of anything. This is what she is pretending to not know.

7. Don't be so hard on Michelle Bachman
After all, she is representative of the majority of Americans who are intelligent, yet have had real education witheld from them to the point where keeping more than two independant thoughts in their heads at the same time is painful.

Bachman is a microscope on the reason we have such a dysfunctional Government, simply because it demonstrates that "It's OK" to have an extremely Shallow mind. It is also used to tell people that they can "Fit In" by remaining to be complacement and ill informed, and perhaps they can join the other legions of Politicians who are smart enough to be able to read the latest Propaganda written for them by the Corporate masters.

Of course, our system of Government is so Politically correct that nobody would dare jump up in the middle of suh a ludicrous speech and call her out on this Bullshit, but thats the way it is designed to be. Popularity, Dogma and Decor vs Facts and Science and Independant Thought...

No, we need independant producers to illustrate the idiocy, while Bachman's speech gets entered into the Congressional record..
