1. i was just talking to my husband about this. these jerks whine about taxes

and government being bad and then bitch that their roads aren't plowed. or the roads aren't fixed. they WANT government but either they don't realize just what we pay for in our taxes or they want a free lunch, which btw they accuse the 'lazy' people of wanting. infrastructure is essential and without it we cannot survive as a country.

2. Free market advocates want us to become desparate for solutions so we'll accept their ideas...

We'll get repair and upgrades courtesy of more private companies. And we'll pay through tolls and/or new use fees to use that infrastructure.

8. Saw that... it was excellent

Similar vein: privatized fire protection services operating in Southern California. The most notable stories happened a few years ago during the fires around Escondido and Temecula, near San Diego. People who had paid for private fire protection had there homes saved while their neighbors homes burned to the ground while the privatized companies watched.

I think we'll see more cities consolidate services with neighboring cities as federal and state support continues to dwindle too. I'm waiting for the privatization of water delivery as well. Bet Halliburton can't wait to get their hands on that!
