1. I'm torn on this
At face value it's a good idea, but how much more 1984 type stuff do we need?

3. So we're going to set up camps on the edge of town for them, too?

4. No
Lists, tracking, and spying... is that the kind of government you want?

6. Police records.
They are already listed. No spying required, just the truth available for somebody who needs to know.

8. A registry is a little different than records.
Typically a registry includes current information (address, employer, new private info...) and is available to outside parties beside police. Records make sense... registries are used as blacklist/shaming tools.

5. A registry doesn't have to mean anything more than that, a registry.
I don't think it's a terrible idea, to be able to find out if the person you're dating put his last two girlfriends in the hospital. But unless the violence is well-documented and proven beyond a doubt and doesn't involve the sex-offender equivalent of peeing in public, it isn't an awful idea.

7. NO REGISTRY
This idiotic idea is exactly what the Republic Party wants. This is HUGE GOVERNMENT! Domestic violence criminals should be punished for their crimes committed, Sex offenders are a category all by their dirty selves.

9. It's easy to look up local arrest records
I do it in my job. Anyone can use the computer terminals at the Clerk of Court's office to search for arrests. Unfortunately, they only have their own local records... but it's better than nothing.
