Paul Gunter Beyond Nuclear joins Thom. We survived the great DC earthquake!! But only just barely - as the epicenter of yesterday's
quake was near a nuclear power plant. We just BARELY missed a Fukushima-like disaster near the nation's capital

The Big Picture with Thom Hartmann on RT TV & FSTV "live" 9pm and 11pm check www.thomhartmann.com/tv for local listings

1. The sensors that were removed were not the plant's quake sensors...

4. Yes... like we "almost lost Nebraska"
Thom is so witty and bright on so many other issues... but just goes round the bend on anything related to nuclear power.

5. Recommended. I didn't realize the plant was built to withstand a 6.1, and we're lucky this was a 5.8
I am glad Thom keeps us updated on the precarious state of our nuclear plants, especially as the meltdowns in Fukushima are continuing.

I know we are supposed to pretend that they are not as dangerous as they all are, but just choosing not to report on the issue or discontinuing monitoring them doesn't solve their problems.

And we now have given too much power to Republicans who can't stand government jobs that could help repair, reinforce and prepare our plants for more extreme weather events and protect our citizens when accidents do occur.
