1. he is funny,. needs to chill out though.
the media have really uneducated the people,. they have equated chaos with anarchy so often many people can no longer understand the difference.

He really needs to take the "I'm going to show you how it's done" level down a few notches,. in fact how about trashing that whole attitude. You really need to come from a place of humility, and respect, before anyone will care much about the ideas you may have.

We have all seen this play before,. . ego over group,. . you need to balance these in a fair ratio.

4. I think he has a point.
But he was not able to articulate it very well.

I've heard lots of people criticize the Wall Street protesters because they have no cohesive message. And this Union guy is right about that.

Of course they don't.

People are being affected by this in many, many ways, too many to put into a simple slogan or even a list of "demands".

We are suffering under for-profit health care.
We are suffering under mortgage holders being bailed out with taxpayer money while mortgage payers go into foreclosure.
We are enduring wars to protect financial interests.
We are enduring unemployment due to outsourcing.
We have young, college-educated people starting out life with loads of debt and a bleak employment environment.
We have an election system that is set up so that he who spends the most wins.
We have mandatory security systems in airports mandated by the people accepting lobbying money from the people who make them.

There are countless ways people are being affected, and it is impossible to articulate them all, so it comes across as chaos.

What people are all bound together by in their protesting is that something is broken about the system.

What it is is simple: Wealth is undermining Democracy and the will of the people.

8. I didn't think he was funny either...he was reaching across a great divide
offering his rough worker hand to the kids and telling them how best to take their message to his union brothers. He said he was on their side. He was there to tell them how to get more workers like him to be on their side.

He was right. Finding the focus of the protest is critical. The ones who wrote the "Declaration of the Occupation of New York City," saw the need to articulate the message too. The protesters need to be on message, and they need to be able to articulate their message to other workers who are also part of the 99%.

I think both sides can learn from this exchange. The earlier posts mocking this man are out of line IMO.

3. Maybe this guy
is a plant that is trying to play psychological games with the protesters. I wouldn't put to much in what he says.

5. it comes down to control of the creation of culture.
Yeah,. I think he is legitimately interested and concerned, however the culture that produced him has just not prepared many people for true democracy and real freedom,. when you are not using coercive power you actually need to appeal to people as equals,. american society has taught people to worship wealth and power,. why? well the wealthy and powerful have had control of the creation of culture for too long.

12. He is right. The protesters need to go where the union workers are
and say, where are you?

Until you wake up,
we will fight for you.
