Bill McKibben, co-founder of 350.org and organizer of the Tar Sands Action protests at the White House and who with 64 others was arrested and spent two nights in jail http://fdlaction.firedoglake.com/2011/08/21/tar-sands-action-are-you-discouraged-or-a-flaming-firebagger/ because the D.C. police wanted to discourage more protests, spoke to a group from Occupy Wall Street who are also not discouraged.

As he’s been doing from the beginning, McKibben made a direct connection between the greed and corruption of the corporate/financial system represented by Wall Street and the greed and folly on global climate change represented by the Keystone XL Pipeline and tar sands oil development in Alberta, Canada.

Bill invited the Occupy participants to join him in circling the White House on November 6 to liberate Barack Obama. It’s shaping up to be an exorcism. The message to President Obama is classic:

1. Not for nothing.
I'm sure I quite agree with McKibben but what the hell is up with the repeating in unison shit? Makes him look like a cult leader. It's annoying, especially when they can't even do it in time with each other. You could have a guy up there reciting Dr. Suess and if everyone repeats after him he's going to look like a cult leader. I could not get by the first thirty seconds.

2. It is a little disarming.
There is a law against megaphones and amplified speakers, etc. in NYC. This "human microphone" was born out of necessity. You'll see people holding their hands up too, in a silent applause. American ingenuity!

3. It is the human microphone
So that others who are not right next to the speaker can hear. Having been to an occupy event, I can attest that it is necessary and effective.

5. They aren't aloud mega phones at the protests. That is the only way the crowd can hear. :(

4. I think it would be like one of those zombie movies where they
finally get to him but it's too late, he's already been taken over.
