What if one of the kids killed were his?

Please not he is one of the 1%. Of course, he wants a "Kent State moment."

"Deutsch is the chairman of Deutsch, Inc., an advertising agency company founded by his father, which he sold to Interpublic Group of Companies (IPG) in 2000 for $265 million."

"Deutsch purchased a five-story property in New York City for $21 million and reportedly spent another $20 million on renovations in 2006.<3> Deutsch also purchased a $29 million home on Long Island."

10. Well...
Consider the source, AND the venue within which he's given the opportunity to pontificate.

How easy it is for people like this to make evaluative statements about OWS, and the myriad groups protesting the radical income inequity that continues to undermine our democracy and our global economy. Has he devoted ANY time and energy to OWS or any other protest?

Here's what I think of when I contemplate the brave souls joining these protests daily:

~~these individuals are brave activists, exercising their constitutionally-protected right to assemble and to have their grievances heard.

~~these individuals are striving to embody a non-violent protest, AND to organically create a cohesion that can manifest an agenda, primarily using consensus decision making (an AWESOME effort, albeit difficult and time intensive).

~~these individuals are CLEARLY supporting our democracy, our nation, and our global economy.

~~these individuals, and their brave activism, are causing corporate sphincters across the globe to tighten up in fear and resentment, which means this activism is hitting the proverbial nail squarely on the head.

We the People are manifesting a commitment to our great democracy, a profound respect for the efficacy of non-violence, and a determination to BE THE CHANGE WE WANT TO SEE IN OUR WORLD.

Mr. Deutch--and all the other media moguls like him--would do well to pack up a tent and other relevant resources, and join ANY of the brave groups working to save our democracy.

14. Unfortunately, the last time there was this kind of unrest back in the early 20th century
there were a lot of such moments.

As this movement keeps growing, I really fear we're going to see such horrible things happen.

16. WTF!! Even worse, did you hear at the end..
where he said the tea party had "an adultness" to it? Did he mean those people frothing at the mouth and shaking their fists during the town meetings last year? Or the guy standing in line at the Obama rally back during the campaign, holding a toy monkey dressed like Obama? Those people???

Jeebus!!!

What is it with these 1%'ers? They're supposed to be so intelligent and all, and yet they can't seem to keep themselves from saying the stupidest things. It seems like the brain isn't connected to the mouth. Like Tony Hayward saying "I want my life back" after which BP sent him to the Australian Outback or to Antarctica or somewhere so he couldn't do any more damage.

And it seemed to me that those two anchors we're trying to rescue that guy's ass, trying to walk it back, after he made that stupid remark about Kent State, and he didn't seem to get it. Whatta tool!

20. He's not as naive as the comments are
What he is saying, to those who speak his language, is...

...if someone shoots a bunch of protesters, it will turn the majority against them like it did at Kent State. The protesters will get even more wound up, which makes it easier to provoke them into more violence. The shooters won't get prosecuted for decades, if ever.

So come on cops, get serious. Put down the billy clubs and start shooting.

was even stupid. "For a guy who eats fruit loops you are pretty smart." I couldn't believe she said that. Good thing MSNBC let Olbermann and hung on to those gems. :sarcasm:

28. I'm Sure He is Quite Serious
I recall that after the Kent State and Jackson State murders there was quite a bit of right-wing crowing, with more than one person saying flat out that the kids "deserved" it. And the shootings unquestionably intimidated many who would have otherwise openly supported the anti-war movement. It's one thing to sign up to be maced or whacked with a billyclub, quite another to sign up to be possibly killed.

Nothing new here, really. Of course we cannot know if there will eventually be bloodshed and killing as a result of the Occupy movement. But history would suggest that it is inevitable. When ever have the ruling class surrendered their privileges without violence?
