we continue to believe in this crazy idea of economics. Money and these derivative bets, which are just bets on paper, thought up by people, cannot be "unthought" of by people. Why should we believe that these "bets" should mean anything? Money only has the power we give it. Wall St and the corporate model we currently have is only because we give power to it. People who live day to day in their lives doing and creating real labor and real work products are the true wealth. These fancy derivative bets on packaged mortgages that were toxic to begin with can be thrown out with the old bath water. Each mortgage needs to be evaluated. Who owns it? What is the "real" value, and who should the person in "ownership" be paying too? I believe its past the time we rely on the Fed Reserve, which is private banks to begin with, and start owning our own wealth. If we control our own wealth, we would not be borrowing and paying an interest on the money borrowed. There are like 4 or 5 countries in the world that own their own wealth.. that are not a part of the global financing mechanism. Iran, Venezuela, Cuba, Lybia (was), and Iraq (was). They are a threat to the global financing powers by not putting their people into the world debtor scheme.
I would say that OWS is great. Its happening around the world. People are rejecting the notion that they shouldn't have the basic necessities of life. People reject the notion that they shouldn't have access to education. Why? Why should access to educating oneself more and more be limited to financial constraints.. and why must a job be limited to an academic degree. I know some people that are more self-educated by themselves, than any University could have helped them with, but because a degree keeps them from even qualifying for the position to be interviewed, they are stuck with a lower status of class. AND if you can't afford to go into major debt for the college degree, then you are stuck with a lower status of class. How is this ok? Why is this ok? Many of the people who have discovered or created or explored or have done in our past history, were self-sustaining, inquisitive, and well rounded individuals.
Given that the OWS movement is questioning the very basic premise of the status quo, why should we believe that these foreign ideas of derivatives should have ill harm on the most of us who did not engage in crazy betting schemes in the banking/ insurance agencies? Why should the world "burn" because of intangible numbers on some computer keeping scores. Why should people around the world all of a sudden go into a massive tailspin of disorder and chaos because of these crazy betting schemes that are now triple the global wealth of the world. Who is supposedly going to pay on the mark? There isn't enough money you could pretend to squeeze from the peons to cover the bets. It doesn't make sense. It makes more sense to figure out a more enlightened path forward that deals with humanity as worldwide citizens, rather than commodities/ consumers.
