This message is for Keith Olbermann, Dylan Ratigan, and Lawrence O'donnell. Hello, this is anonymous. We have been watching you very closely and wish to express our thanks to you for having some integrity while reporting on the occupy movement.

1. Why are these guys acting like they are "in charge" of the OWS movement?
I personally -- and this is just my opinion -- think they take away from it, not add to it.

I like seeing real people out there, with real lives and real stories, not masked clowns.

It may be a generational thing, but to me, it's a question of credibility.

2. I so agree
Good word..."clowns." They're ridiculously self-immportant. What have they accomplished? Shut down the website for the NYSE, not the exchange itself, for 2 minutes and revealed the identities of a bunch of BART riders.

They didn't start OWS, and they don't own it.

5. I have said this before, and I will speculate once again.
They do not seem "real" to me. They seem manufactured. And by manufactured, I mean manufactured by people who work for the government and are pretending to be younger than they actually are.

I could be way off base, but they just smell fake to me--like a COINTELPRO outfit from back in the day.

3. Get the fuck off your high horse.
They are NOT claiming they are 'in charge' of anything. They are in support of OWS, and sharing their appreciation of those media figures who are reporting honestly on it.

Stop making shit up, just to demean the left.

4. I am not on a high horse. Stop being so "fucking" confrontational with me.
I gave my OPINION and made it clear that it was just that.

These masked banditos issue "directives" like they are running the show.

I find them annoying and stupid, and distracting from the purpose of the protests.

And no, my views do NOT "demean the left" just because they are different from yours, you intolerant cuss. A true lefty accomodates divergent views, and doesn't march in lockstep like a mindless tin soldier.

8. There was NOTHING in that very brief message that claimed they 'own' OWS.

They have made ZERO proprietary claims of speaking for 'the left' - they have only ever spoken for themselves, as a collective.

You are attacking them, making unfounded, unsupportable claims about them and their motives. "A true lefty accommodates divergent views, and doesn't march in lockstep like a mindless tin soldier." If you believe that, then what are you doing attacking Anonymous? Hypocrisy, much?

They speak in SUPPORT of those who are fighting the class war.

You attack THEM. That sounds like divide and conquer, to me. Who is the better COINTELPRO suspect here?

EDIT

On second thought, there is not COINTELPRO evidence on either side - they specialized in provoking violence to justify crackdowns by police. You are not doing that - neither is Anonymous. You're just spewing the normal Third Way bullshit that marginalizes any efforts by the left. You're not the enemy. You're just wrong.

9. And there was nothing in their proprietary language that disavowed it, either.
Go away. Stop engaging me if my views cause you such hyperbolic angst.

I really don't care to debate someone who cannot grasp nuance.

You don't have to give my opinion any regard whatsoever, but you can stop acting like a sanctimonious and didactic ass.

"Third way bullshit" my left foot--is that what you say every time your preconceived notions are challenged? Tiresome. When you can't tell a comment from an attack, you're the one with issues.

12. Keith Olbermann doesn't own OWS but he speaks well for it as this rock the world commentary
on 8/1/11 illustrates before the first occupying protest even began

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndkRgj6j-Pg

This is the kind of public commentary the corporate media should have been coming out with years ago.

14. My understanding is that the whole thing started on a blog by some activists in Canada.
They just jumped in after people started talking about it.

15. Actually it started in Spain, nearly a year ago.
Edited on Tue Oct-25-11 06:02 PM by sabrina 1
Anonymous have been a part of it worldwide from the beginning. The whole foundation of the Movement was the idea of the Spanish 'Indignados' (sp) movement, the General Assemblies, the occupations, rather than one day demonstrations. It spread across Europe after the Spanish Indignados began their occupation last May. And Anonymous was involved so when it was suggested by the Canadian blogger, it was not a new idea and Anonymous' almost immediate involvement was no surprise, but rather expected.

The October 15 Global Demonstrations eg, were planned before the movement began here, and Anonymous had put up videos last summer urging people to join that 'Day of Rage'. So far from OWS starting the movement, they merely joined the Global Revolution but that did give a lot of hope to the Europeans as they have been opposing their governments with strikes, demonstrations etc for nearly two years now.

The French activists eg, have been fierce, with countrywide strikes against their governments Austerity programs, and with their Unions kidnapping Corporate CEOS, or preventing them from going home when they refused to talk to them. Now, the people of all these countries are uniting.

I do agree that Anonymous may not be what they appear to be. They are in every country in the world, you can see their presence in almost all the worldwide demonstrations. But I have no ideas about who they may, well none that have any basis in fact. I do have some theories which are probably all wrong :-)

16. I have heard of the Indignados.
Thanks for the tutelage--there's no real history written of this business yet. All things in time, I guess!
