never served in the military, I had my problems, but I sure supported the troops and I can't understand even after the protests in the 60's and 70's the cops haven't learned much. They are not above the law.

Great grandpa was in the military , both of my grandparents were in WWII in some form. One uncle came back bad from Vietnam. Another came close to shipping to the frontlines but was transferred at the last minute. (this was back during the draft he's more like me) Odd.

Dad was in the National Guard. ie before they started sending out National Guard internationally. :( We know friends and family over there. But come back and get shot in a peaceful protest (throwing plastic water bottles if that actually happened ) didn't require such overkill. ie yeah Kent State. 4 dead and 60-70 shots at protesters

And going to the VA for grandpa for 2 years until he died in 2008... plenty of good vets there (men women) because grandma was married to one, she's allowed to be there. Had to move her when the one in Charlotte/Iowa Falls closed (Nursing Home)

It used to be that veterans were guaranteed free health care for life. I am sure that has been stopped. Fucking pig bastards. Piggies at the trough. Excuse me, I don't usually go this far in my anger and hatred.

TRICARE FOR LIFE is for retirees. If he was not disabled before he left active duty, he's probably not eligible for TRICARE, and even if he is, he still would have to pay a copay. Free medical for life was discontinued long before I retired in '91. A group of vets sued and were told that the government didn't have to honor it contracts with the military. I lost all faith in the government after that.

40. You get free VA care if you have disability. Tricare is for retirees.

VA is pretty good though, you can also get discounted rates through them, so it's better than nothing, and a hell of a lot better than what most people in the rest of the country have.
