A gay student at Union-Scioto High School in Ohio was beaten by a bully. The attack was caught on a cellphone camera and the video was posted on Facebook. Ana Kasparian and Cenk Uygur discuss on The Young Turks.

2. Let's Petition the School Board
Let's get a petition up to address the punishment of this student. He should have been expelled. 3 days suspension is a joke. We can't let these actions go without some outcry ... no one in that class room came to his defense either. No one. What does this tell us about our society? I live in one fucked up country.

5. In the old days, the term BULLY had very different connotations...
Bullies were mostly about intimidation and the THREAT of violence... and even when it did come,
it was MILD comparatively speaking, not this sort of apeshit violence.

Maybe I'm missing something here; it's been a LONG time since I was in school, but when I
returned to this thread to see what others had said, I was surprised that no one else objected
to the term as used, as if bullying is now just one tot shy of first degree murder.

Not to mention disappointed to see so little interest in this thread overall. The fact that the
other kids didn't do anything is not that surprising, since they're kids for chrissakes... but
here on DU, no one seems to want to defend the kid either!

I know it's been a busy last few days, but still...

Pretty sad on several levels.
