Police In Richmond Virginia use Bulldozers to Break up Occupy Richmond

Police use bulldozers to break up Occupy Richmond

Monday, October 31, 2011 ice

Virginia State Police brought in bulldozers at about 1 a.m. Monday morning to clear out an encampment of Occupy Richmond protesters.

At least 15 protesters who choose not to leave Kanawha Plaza after a 45 minute warning were arrested, according to Richmond Times-Dispatch.

Demonstrators had been occupying the plaza since Oct. 15. Democratic Mayor Dwight C. Jones visited the site Thursday to warn protesters they were breaking a city ordinance that forbids camping on public property.

“We applied for permits from city council but, you know, they didn’t accept or decline us getting a permit,” one activist explained to WTVR. “At least them declining it would give us an idea what was to come, but we didn’t get anything. So we started occupying with high hopes and unfortunately this is what it came down to.”

they like to bulldoze each other with Palestine

yep we're a country of many different smaller countries. Mostly Iran, North Korea and China, but some Palestine and Israel mixed in.

3. First thing I thought of too
This is enlightening. What are they so scared will happen if they leave protesters out on the streets freezing their butts off? They've been peaceful and orderly everywhere despite what police have done to them, stealing their belongings, arresting them, scattering them, attacking them. So if they're afraid of riots, why are they trying to provoke riots by refusing to allow non-violent speech and action? What do they think will happen if they leave these protesters alone?

5. No violence?
Reporter says there was no violence. I would say bulldozers running into occupied tents sounds pretty violent to me.

6. Nice catch!
But I guess the media thinks it doesn't count if the police are the ones being violent.

10. "Geez, Richmond Cops

Overreact much?"

Why were they not issued a permit if they applied for one?

Are the citizens of VA merely serfs, pawns, invisible?

This is going to make more people come out.

Maybe the cops are trying to help OWS by enraging more people to come out into the streets

12.  Heavy machinery in the middle of the night?
They think they are bad-ass, they are saying "FEAR US, we are bigger than you."

I never knew 25 nylon tents were that heavy.

They are just going to create a whole generation of revolutionary's.
