What happens when one industry has too much power? Politicians become pawns. Laws are created and prevented. Regulations are bypassed. Information is controlled. Dissent is stifled. Our climate changes. And people die.

GREEDY LYING BASTARDS is a documentary film exposing the shocking lengths the fossil fuel industry travels to ensure maximum profits for executives and shareholders.

In the United States, this industry spends millions of dollars annually to lobby Congress, ensuring the political support necessary to pass supportive or block restrictive laws. Using this control, the industry has managed to dictat...e energy and climate policies in the U.S., working alongside federal administrations. The same industry has spent millions of dollars to fund think tanks, organizations, and scientists who have waged a global campaign of deceit regarding the science of climate change and its dire impacts. Those who have spoken out against the corruption, environmental and health impacts caused by its irresponsible business practices have been assaulted, jailed, tortured, and murdered.

1. It would appear that the GREEDY LYING BASTARDS are not exercising their power very well.
For no major oil refinery has been built in the US since 1976. Environmental restrictions and pressure to prevent construction of new refineries in one of the causes of rising fuel prices.

Nevertheless, I urge you to do what you can to stop the GREEDY LYING BASTARDS. You may begin by turning off your computer, selling your car and disconnecting your home from the grid.

2. Knowledge is power.
Maybe we didn't just watch the same trailer. In the trailer I saw, the GLB's are getting away with murder.

6. Yeah, and it was particularly dramatic when POWER blasted the entire screen,
followed by a shot of military vehicles with guns on the roof. Come on, man.

Next we see how they "create" laws..., just like every other interest group in the US does (from their cozy offices near the Capital).

Then, it stretches into an accusation that BP issued a hit contract that resulted in the death of an "unnamed environmentalist."

Okay, I'll overlook the fact that this was created by lawyers (regulators) whose livelihood depends on shaking down businesses; but if someone is going to level an accusation of murder, they need to provide some serious evidence to substantiate the claim. If they have it, let us see it, and if it is what they say it is, let the dogs loose on 'em.

17. I have been involved in the BP Tx City explosion litigation
I work for the blond attorney in the trailer and have been involved in BP litigation since March 23rd, 2005. You are a BP Internet shill. At what cost was your soul? BP murdered those 15 people in the Texas City explosion and the 11 on the Deep Water Horizon as well as several others since 2005. THEY BUDGETED FOR THE COST OF THERE WORKER's LIVES!!! I have seen the documents! Go to www.gulfcoastdisaster.com to see what BP has done. I know the widows and their children. You should be ashamed! BP has no plans to fix the Gulf or pay the interim benefits REQUIRED BY LAW! The man at the beginning of the trailer is one of hundreds of thousands of Gulf Coast residents that BP has put out of business or a job. I for one cannot wait to see this trailer!

20. You could not be more wrong, get your facts straight!
The 20 billion dollar fund was dreamed up by BP to place an arbitrary (low) cap on the damage they have done to the people and businesses of the Gulf coast. BP wrote the terms (which the media failed to report) that they only had to put 1.25 billion per quarter into the fund. When that is used up, wait for the next quarter. Still sounds like a lot of money? Tell that to the Seafood industry right down to the oyster fisherman who has lost his way of life. What about all of the restaurants, waiters and waitresses on the Florida Gulf coast who lost their business and jobs because the tourists stayed away. Will you eat an oyster from La.?
As to the question of murder. No there was no conviction b/c there were no charges filed. It does not change the fact that that BP murdered their own workers. Let me spell it out you shill. BP has a document THEY called the 3 little pigs budget plan. It had 4 different proposed budgets for the Texas City plant that they obtained when they had merged with Amoco. It was a falling apart rust bucket of a plant needing massive refurbishing. They put the straw house next to the budget proposal for the bare minimum of "spend," the stick house for a little more spend ... to the "impenetrable fortress" to fix everything wrong and unsafe. The problem was, they determined, that under the straw house and stick house budgets, they estimated that they would kill some of their workers. They needed to account for the costs of those human lives to have a more accurate budget (they knew us ambulance chasers would sue on behalf of those greedy widows and children)! They said, " Amoco was not willing to do this, but we at BP are, in order to have a more accurate budget we will put a $10 million dollar value for each death. That will cover the settlement with the victim's family, the cost of the defense, and some money to run some ads to rehab our image. Under the Stick House budget they estimated that they would kill only 1-2 workers and production was actually best under this budget. That is the budget they chose. They decided to kill 1-2 of their workers because it made financial sense, the only sense they believe in. I know my clients and I am performing a valuable service that helps them. Call it what you will but I sleep great at night. How do you benefit society?

4. Exactly what they want...
They are not constructing any new refineries specifically beacuse it is causing prices to go up.

They win!!!

I get the feeling you are trying to protect big oil - are you dearie!!!!!

7. You know, I hadn't looked at it that way. So, environmental regulators are in cohorts with the
the oil companies to keep new refineries from being built...interesting theory, but highly unlikely.

Don't you think it would be hard for all of those people to keep it secret? :tv:

Environmental regulators don't need to be involved.

8. The reason we have "technology left over from years of neglect" is because of
loons blocking the path to the future.

Anyone with a bit of scientific or technological understanding knows that.

9.  "It is difficult to get a man to understand something
when his livelihood depends on not understanding it." - Upton Sinclair

Our petrochemical-based technology will kill us if we don't change quickly.

I'm sure you will find a nice job in the new economy; perhaps the transition will be smoother if you start now.

16. Tell you what slappy. You got us there. We'll follow your oh so clever advice when you stop
eating food inspected by those horrible regulators. Also, make sure you drink some of that water not deemed safe for human consumption by those "comb overed" scheming bureaucrats at the EPA. See hoe how easily we can all come up with cute little straw man arguments.
