This clip is very telling, on one side you see Biden trying to get people over the irrational fear of testing and deal with reality yet Obama comes right back at the end re-enforcing the same juvenile attitude that is being decried.

pathetic

Obama takes HIV test to lessen stigma
Illinois senator is visiting Kenya
By Christopher Wills, Associated Press | August 27, 2006

KOGELO, Kenya -- Senator Barack Obama pushed through surging crowds and hurtled down roads lined with screaming admirers yesterday before settling into the calm of a quiet meal with his grandmother in the Kenyan hamlet where his father grew up and is buried.

Obama stopped at his father's grave for a few moments before ending his rushed visit to the compound, a collection of small buildings, towering mango trees and assorted dogs and chickens.

``Anytime a child comes back to a parent's grave, it makes you reflect on your mortality and the next generation," Obama said, adding that he was especially happy to be able to bring his two daughters along.

Obama also spent much of the day studying the toll AIDS is taking on African families. He and his wife took HIV tests as thousands of people watched and he visited a project that helps grandmothers find the money to care for children orphaned by AIDS.

11. BS, he was just making the comment about how he was married.
Wow, I can't believe this orchestrated smear fest - it's ROVARIAN! :grr:

What's even more disgusting is that far too many people who, IMO, should know better are falling for it ... hook, line and sinker.

7. Perhaps he should speak to families who have lost loved ones from BAD blood transfusions
This is stunning!

How MANY hemophiliacs lost their lives due to bad blood transfusions? How many of them would have been saved if people had been tested?

He sounds as if he has a real problem. He's definitely NOT what we need in the White House.

9. It looked like most of the audience had the same attitudes as him
Look at the face on Sharpton - the audience seemed uneasy when Biden was speaking, but all had a real good laugh with Obama. It's still a down-low subject for many African-Americans it seems.

8. biden was no better.

they both felt the need to pop in a quip about not being gay.
it is revealing. as revealing as oreillys comment about the harlem restaurant.

your title is misleading though, and inflammatory. they didnt equate aids with being gay but they did feel the need to separate themselves from gay people.

14. read it again
It did not equate aids with being gay but simply TESTING, that is self evident, and the point of the discussion itself was just that, to get people past the fear of testing. The fact that Obama felt the need to 'cover' himself demonstrated a clear lack of leadership on this issue.

It is not inflammatory but self evident, no matter how you try to spin it.

Unfortunately, it does not speak well of either candidate (either Biden or Obama)

The difference between the two in this clip is that I saw Biden trying to show leadership and get people to face a problem while Obama tried to hide behind his wife.

15. I gave him a pass on this, back in the day.
It didn't seem like a big deal at the time, just a little joke. Now, looking back, it appears as a sign of what would later come.
