1. Thanks so much for the links, Mzteris.
i just printed out

'Is Asperger’s syndrome/High-Functioning Autism necessarily a disability?'

by Simon Barron-Cohen ( of the test name, right?)

It's a very interesting article.
My son is so borderline HFA- high functioning autistic-
in some areas, and quite autistic in other areas.

Many, many of our kids fall between the cracks when it comes
to categorization. But to get any help, they have to have a
"diagnosis".

Thanks, again.

:hi:

2. The AQ test?
Yup.

I just took it again (it's been awhile). 31.

Although, I'm going through such changes in my life, that I'm not really sure how to answer some of them.

I *used* to be/behave/believe/act - one way, and find that as I age, I'm changing a bit. Whether that's permanent or not? Whether it's growth or ennui, or age, or menopause, or "wisdom" or - I dunno.

My SO has said," don't like the mood she's in?"-"wait five minutes".
Men!

I'm also going through what my son refers to
with a mischievous grin,

"mental pause"- that's his new name for it,
and it stuck!

5. "mental pause" -
 That's good. (And very apropos. I have a hard time remembering words - heck remembering everything! lately.)

Ever notice how so many "bad" things have "men" in it?? MENopause, MENtal, MENarche, MENstruate, MENace. hahaha

****don't like the mood she's in?"-"wait five minutes".****

I guess that's why they call it the 'Change', eh? :)

4. Just to clarify my post above,
I found the Barron-Cohen article interesting.
There are a number of points I don't necessarily agree with, such as the following

But this small shift could mean the difference between whether the diagnosis of autism is received as a family tragedy, akin to being told that the child has some other severe, life-long illness like diabetes or haemophilia, or whether the diagnosis of autism is received as interesting information, akin to being told that the child is right or left-handed. In this millennium special issue of Development and Psychopathology, the intention is to highlight this as an issue for the agenda.

I read everything I can get my hands on.

Right now, I'm really interesting in the correlation between
mercury poisoning and autism.

There is definitely something to it.
