Art savant thing?
My son is savant in Art... his neuropsychologist noticed that that seems to be typcial of Asperger's, while more classical autistics (like Rainman) tend to be savant in Math.

Does anyone else have an Aspie son or daughter savant in Art?

We have a 29 year old female in our group that we meet with (of course she looks much younger) and even she is savant in Art, even though Asperger's is more rare among females!

1. I don't know if I would call it "Savant" or not
esp. after seeing this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8YXZTlwTAU

But yeah - I think that people who are able to focus intently - can do some amazing stuff in art - if that is what they choose to focus on.

My daughter surprised me with being fairly interested in abstract art when she was growing up. It seemed pretty unusual.

Now she likes both art and mathematics.

2. W.O.W. !!! :o)

They made the term more "PC" now ~ remember when they used to say 'idiot savant' . Our children are in no way 'idiots'! Now they use the terminology 'autistic savant' :

3. I would probably include myself here...
Art, colors, object alignment... I could be an interior designer, graphic designer, ad designer... I would be happy, content, and making real money. My "innovative" (aka "weird") ideas might just be marketable.

4. I have that talent as well...
My mom says that people are amazed by my artwork and my ability to draw such detailed things (when I want to, lol)

I am usually good a discerning colors and putting different colors together. My mom is interested in remodeling things and we often discuss what colors to put in what room, etc. etc.

As far as my artwork, I think I am mediocre.
